Well its that time of year again anyone fancy a few hot laps round Brunters??

Only problem is the 100db limit, last year this was sort of enforced but after the court case (which they won) they may not be as kind.

Anyone fancy it????

If not MOPAR Nats on the Sunday???

Paul do you mean they wont be as kind to us or the neighbours? Not many of us will get under a 100db limit even if they do offer a bit of discretion, How did those that went last year get on and were they all the quieter ones?

Personally although I enjoyed brunters the year before last and got that warm fuzzy feeling from doing my bit for charity if it’s going to end up being a day standing in a field unable to run due to noise then I’d prefer to go to the pod. At least there we don’t have to worry about being the loudest and I was really disappointed that I couldn’t run last year due to car/numpty issues.

Dave for reference mine measured at about 115 dba ¾ throttle. half a meter at 45 degrees

yes

To be fair i did measure mine where there were a lot of hard surfaces around so it may come down a bit in a field and you have side exits so you will effectively only get 50% of the exhaust which may help a bit.

I did however manage 105db in the passenger seat at full chat across the office car park with the windows down when I was running catless.

Pop along to goodwood as they are local to you and get a real reading, or if they wont help then let me know as I do have a sound meter from maplins, just not sure of its accuracy and if I measure it under the same conditions as a track would.

according to Craig who runs VMax and is a regular at brunters
the limit is now 98 Db static, i should imagine with all the recent aggro with the council this will be enforced

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

i had mine measured a couple of years ago in a field to official GT standards on GT equipment it read 112

what exhaust setup are you running RTDave? with one exhaust to measure you may have an advantage

Hi Neil,

As per the other thread:

RT/10Dave said:
I have a side exit exhaust system, which I'm lead to believe is a Hennessey motorsports system, (I'm yet to confirm this as I am not sure where to look), but it has been commented that it has a very 'different' sound to the standard system, and I did notice it seemed louder than some of the other Vipers I travelled up to Silverstone with the other week... I'll try and get a test done at Goodwood, (they aren't all that far from me) and I believe they test there as they have noise limits on their track days.
I am in contact with John Hennessey at the moment, attempting to find out a bit more about the system I'm lead to believe I have, and I am going to pop over to Goodwood in the next week or so and get a sound test done.

It's difficult to be sure, as obviously I was sat in my own car at the time but it seemed louder than the other cars I travelled up to Silverstone with, which included Dave's GTS, so if he's measuring 115db, I don't think I've got much of a chance...

As well as Dave, both Rob and Baz have been in close proximity of the car (Baz has had some of it in bits) and have both commented on the sound of it in comparison with stock... and although the comments were positive, they did also include the word 'louder' in their description.

I guess there is only one way to be sure...

you wont get much louder than Daves gts, unless you go the supercharged/turbocharged or remove the cats

sounds like you have a modified exhaust, why not take a side sill off and have a peek?

it always seems pretty loud in-car in a modified RT as the side exhaust tips are just literally a few feet away from your ears smile

Unless they take a sound level from one side then double it......

Just spoken to organiser and the 98 db limit is very 98 ish and will not be enforced for this charity day.

You may however be asked to not nail it on the back straight if you are thought of as noisy.

In the court they won against the noise police and were awarded £133K in compensation.

So the council and neigbour will be licking there wounds at present.

My car checks at 104 db at Goodwood, last year they still let me run all day.

I got a telling off last year for launching to hard 105db ok so my system is medium modified but they did tell me just not to launch like a rat out of a trap.
I would love to go but if you can't launch hard and you have to hold of the throttle on the back straight it kinda takes the Viper experience away frown

Well I have just ordered some so assuming they turn up in time and it stops raining long enough to fit them and they actually make a difference I should be good to go.
