Hi all,
I recently bought a 94 viper in the States and shipped it back. I need to prep it for an MOT prior to registering it here. The car has a rear fog light rocker switch, The owners manual refers to the switch and states that it is non functioal and that it is used for international vehicles. Is it a simple job to get it operational. Fuse Perhaps? Do the front side light / indicators, need to be altered ? Are there any other potential issues apart from lighting ?

That's the boring stuff over, are there any regular get togethers or other members in the west sussex area ?

I'd appreciate any help
Thanks

nice one congrats, i had a US spec 94 there was no wiring for a fog light, its not just a case of adding a fuse im afraid, speak to V1PER (Baz) and he will tell you what to do. You should be able to just rotate the headlight lamp, adjusting for UK alignments

dont think you need side bonnet indicators in the correct place
like the euro cars for the MOT, since you dont need a SVA youll probably get away with the stock placement of the indicators

there's always a few get togethers, though youve missed a few of the good ones, keep a check here for events, our little club website is www.ukviperclub.co.uk

lets see a few pics of your new motor !

Welcome to the nut house..........

You will pass an MOT with just the indicators in the front bumper..No need to drill holes in the bonet wings..

Here is how to adjust lights..
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

As for the fog light,That switch is not used no harness going to it.So it can be used for the rear fog all you need is a feed to the switch and then a switched live down to the rear O/S (right) cluster and turn the inside bulb to the fog light bulb...or if you dont mind it you can mount an aftermarket foglight somewhere on the rear ...

EDIT TO SAY....

Depending on your MOT centre/man you might need to change to white side lights..

Welcome aboard

As the guy in the link above from V1PER a word of advice. When you undo the 4 screws do not remove them!! if you do the shims will fall out and then it can be real fun to try and put them back in and retighten the screws!! On my first light it took me an hour because the shims fell out, ended up using double sided tape to hold them in place whilst I put the light back together. The second light took 10 minutes because I had learnt my lesson. You can undo the screws enough to be able to twist the light fitting without having to remove them.

looking forward to the pics

Hi Guys and thanks for the advise,

I didn't understand this bit in the linked topic - upgrading the lamps to a 'bright white' and popping out the orange indicator lense to give a clearer headlight (one of Spuds tricks) and then swapping the indicator lamps for the silver that light orange type,(£7 per peice from Halfords!)

I sort of had a go before I posted here - Just chopped two of the pins off the indicator / side marker bulbs, but now I've got no front side lights - someone suggested I drill holes in the H/Lamp reflector and fit push in type side light holders and bulbs - sounds reasonable ? Or did this part of V1PER's post [EDIT TO SAY....

Imply that some MOT Testers will turn a blind eye to Orange side lights?

I can't work out how to include pictures in this post so I'll put them in my profile. BTW the car was sold on Sunday morning 24th to a guy from Kent, but I still need to get it MOT'd and regeistered before he picks it up. The car had been advertised here on PH since I got back from the states, but it I'm hoping to go back and find a Gen2 RT10 very soon.

Thanks again guys

Your headlight already have holes in for push in side lights so don't drill any holes all Euro spec Vipers have them as standard.

And remember you drive a VIPER RT/10 there is one guy in the Uk who is trying to claim fame from the name, don't let him.

Also the popping of lights etc is not necessary for an MOT thats just bling for later on.

Enjoy the car
