Has anyone owned both cars? I am finally going to take the plunge after being messed about on a car 2 years ago, but now can't decide which to go for. I love the simple originality of the RT/10, but also the GTS for its look and later development. Are there any problems with the mechanics on an early RT/10 that were resolved on later cars?

i have had both as have a few others here, the gen1 is more difficult to drive espicially when pushing on compared to the slightly more refined gen2, gen1 has a few issues like engine gaskets, corroding sills but nothing that cant be put right, it has a harder, bumpier ride with what seemed tougher suspension

personally i love the gen2 coupe and now wouldnt choose a gen1 over it, to me its far more practical in this country

My '96 RT-10 will possibly be up for sale in Dec (once I've had in the UK for a year - Customs and Excise constraints!) but I'd be looking for a bit more than the '94 one on PistonHeads given the spec...

What kind of years are you looking for.

I remember when the GTS was launched in 96 they raved about the transformation from the gen 1 RT. There were many changes but that is to be expected.

I trust you're not selling the Aero?............You'd be mad if you were wink

Unfortunately I sold it at the end of last summer. And yes, I regret it.

I'm looking for a 2000-ish GTS.

Its simple. Go for a GEN-II GTS or RT/10.

GTS has more trunk space.
GTS is more stiff if it comes to racing.

Everything else is identical.

For me, after having driven a 99 GTS for 4 years and a 02 RT/10 for 4 years now, the ROADSTER feeling can´t be beat by a GTS.

And, the soft top is water proof if it comes to rain.

Finally, I would take a 2001/2002 with ABS.

There's a final edition up for grabs at the Bonhams auction this friday at Goodwood festival.

If it's the one I saw at the BCA auction a couple of weeks ago it looked very clean.

Why did you sell the Aero?

I bought one a couple of months ago and I reckon it's one of the worlds best kept secrets.....the car is simply awesome.....the most surprising car I've ever bought....and believe me I've bought a few.
