All things being considered, (subject to the promised quick delivery of ordered Jubilee Superclamps), will be refitting the thermostat housing and new silicone hoses, and refilling the coolant system and putting everything back together this weekend, (need to drain the last of it from the system, so far I have drained the system from the Rad & hoses, but need to remove the plugs from the block, needing a drain plug key for that bit).

Which coolant is best to use? I note from a previous post that the following:
Coolant Ethylene glycol with silicate 12.8Qts (12.1 L) inhibitor Mopar 4267020
was mentioned, but on speaking to my local Chrysler dealer they are saying
Mopar # 05103532EA, is what they use, which is still glycol silicate, and they have it in stock at £9.00 plus VAT for a 5litre bottle. (I think it's pink instead of green, which sounds the same as the type I used to top up my system a few weeks ago)

Does that sound alright? (I want to make sure I've got the right stuff ready to go)

I don’t have the coolant numbers to hand here at the mo but can look it up when I get home. However I would be concerned putting pink in a green system.

I’m not sure if it’s as bad as they say or if it is the same for all pink/green mixtures but the stories of the resulting gel would be enough to steer me well away from mixing the two.

The stuff I brought last was green but that was about 4 years ago as I brought twice as much as needed so didn’t need to buy any last year.

I definately need to get those drain plugs out and rinse the system then!
I wasn't aware of a problem... luckily it hasn't been in there very long and was only driven once with it in there... I didn't see anything weird about the couple of bucket loads that I have drained out so far, except it having a slightly bitonal pink/green colouration about it.

I'm being told the pink stuff is the new version? I guess if the system is completely flushed and drained it won't be a problem to have pink instead of green... except for the obvious issues that I have with the colour pink!

That would be great, if that's possible... We need quite a bit though, about 12litres I think? (Is that 24 litres total?) I'll add a drain plug socket to the list as well if that's ok?

12 qts total, flush with distilled water then add 6 qts of 3 year green and top up with water until full. Fill (to the mark) the facia bottle with 50/50 mix

Getting the block plugs out definitely gets another half a bucket or so out so it’s worth doing.

I suspect the tales if jelly in the cooling system are perhaps a bit exaggerated and it may be more related to dexcool but I still wouldn’t switch to pink. These cars have enough issues keeping cool without risking blocking some of the cooling system off.

PS

Don’t forget to turn the heater on when you are flushing to get the coolant out of the heater core as well

Dave the Chrysler code for the 3 year green stuff I had last time is

C04267020AB "004C05 Antifreeze 3" £9.86

If you are not having much success with your dealer down there, give swain and Jones in Farnham a call. Always been helpful and got the right stuff for me and they aren't too far for you.

PS if its not obvious i said about putting the coolant in first as there will be about 1-2L of water left in the engine after draining so if you do the coolant last you wont get it all in.

Make sure you mix the coolant 50:50 with deionised water.
