Just a bit of advice really if possible...

When I bought the car the temperature gauge was allegedly working occasionally, the previous owner had purchased a replacement sensor, he told me where it went etc, saying it was an easy job... He had two different sensors sent to him as the first one wasn't the right one... Turns out his description of where the sensor goes was completely wrong, and I can only assume that the sensor is therefore the wrong one, as he was probably looking at the wrong sensor in the first place...

Just rang my local Chrysler Dealership to find out what they'd charge to replace this little screw in sensor... £75 per hour... 11 - 12 hours work!!!!!! eek

Anyone replaced this sensor themselves before? It's in the Thermostat Housing at the back of the engine, almost under the windscreen, can't get my arm in there so I think the intake manifolds etc are going to have to come off... Is that easy enough? or am I being a bit over confident in thinking I can probably do it myself?

Any advice highly appreciated...

Done a few Gen1 thermostates and it is alot easier with the intake off,It is near impossible with it on..
You will need the gaskets for the thermostate and intake gaskets.

While your there might as well put a 180 degree thermostate in there.....

Steve, I'll give you a call this evening if that's Ok?
Chuck, are you able to supply the replacement gaskets that Baz mentions that I'll need please?

Thanks Chuck, I'll try and make 100% certain it's not a wiring issue first... I'll try and do that this weekend, then come back to you.

The temp gauge sensor is on the thermostat housing (99.9% sure)..
The one on the side of the head i believe is the water temp sensor for the ECU (PCM)

But I'm sure Chuck will point you in the right direction..

Been doing a bit of further research this weekend...

I noticed in the service manual that it states that the coolant temperature sensor also controls the cooling fans... If this is the case then I assume my my sensor must be working, as I know that my cooling fans were working the other day... in which case I may well have a loose wire or a faulty gauge... (any advice or comments would be appreciated)

Is there a way of removing the gauge from the dash without removing the entire dash front?
