I have a Sealy low entry, It weighs a ton, leaks and I still have to drive the front of the viper up on bricks to get it in. It did come with a free engine stand I wasn’t expecting that’s still in the box and an oil can. (guess they figures I’d need the oil can because of the leak as it need refilling often)

If I was to do it again I would probably splash out for one of the aluminium race jacks, but someone will be along shortly to tell if they leak also.

I have this one

I have found a couple with low entry heights of about 79mm, a 1.5tonne Michelin Aluminium Race Jack for £150, which looks pretty good... and one which looks pretty much the same made by Clarke at £94, but has a lower load capacity of 1.25tonne

Michelin:

Clarke:

I'm leaning toward the Michelin as it has the higher load capacity... plus from a purely aesthetic perspective it has a set of matching axle stands which look pretty good too...

The thing to watch for as well as saddle height is the construction of the jack behind the saddle. With mine although I can get the saddle under the side sills I cant get it in deep enough to reach a jacking point without the structure of the jack hitting the sills. Even more of a concern when lowering again as you will be lowering the car onto it.

Hadn't thought of that... especially worth remembering considering how far under the car the jacking point appears to be... the frames on those two aluminium jacks look to be tapered relatively low, but I think I might have to pop down to the local machine mart and do some measuring...

Thanks for the heads up Dave!

Yeah I was a bit dismayed to have spent the extra on a low pro jack and still had to put the car onto bricks to get it under.

Got this last week, after a 4 month wait

For £82 delivered, I got the Trolley Jack ~£60 and an 18v pneumatic wheel wrench. Top quality trolley jack bought through the Lotus 7 Club on a special order a guy does each year. Just assembled it today.

Went for the Michelin one in the end, it arrived yesterday, really pleased with it and it fits under the car nicely... If it's as good as it looks then I'll be even more happy, gave it a quick go, it lifts the car in a couple of pumps so not too much effort... Really nice piece of kit! It arrived next day and I managed to save almost £40 on the purchase price advertised anywhere else on the net through a guy selling them on ebay... Purchased the Axle stands from another company which should be with me today...
