Have been struggling to start my RT10 for the last week. Today I finally managed to get the car to fire up
But all is not well, I either have no idle or one around 250rpm, which is causing the engine to "hunt", manual says around 700rpm.
Pulled out the manual, read hoping to find a screw to turn (I can dream), but ended up looking at the idle air control motor with the manual talking about the PCM (powertrain control module)yikes
So guys whats the answer, is there a simple one? or does it just need a good thrash down the road?yes

if youve changed battery or let it go flat, this can happen on the intial start up, you need to go for a 15 min run with the AC on for the PCM to re-learn settings

a duff battery can also cause rough idling

Thanks Neil,

I took the car out for a drive and it seems a lot better, although it still idles around the 500 rpm mark.

The battery isn't great and it spends a lot of time on charge or on the battery conditioner. I was going to hang on until early next year before I changed the battery, purely because I doubt if I will have the opportunity to drive the car a lot in the next few months. Perhaps I should rethink this?

using the correct trickle charger there shouldnt be any battery problems, mine has sat for 4 months plugged in a couple of years ago and had no problems, it stays plugged in all year round.

I've had this GTS 4 years now, I beleive its still on the original battery as I havent changed it ..yet... 6 years ang doing is pretty good I'd say

having said that its bound to fail over this winters storage
