Got to comment that if it is a Viper and was badged a Viper then it is a Viper and you may be in breach of the 'Trades Description Act' if you try to advertise it as anything else.

They never made a Dodge GTS or a Chrysler GTS so how can you advertise it as that???

This guy in the UK is causing all this he is a PITA.

There’s a tiny UK-based kit-car maker which has prior claim to the name VIPER some 20 years ago, there was a legal wrangling some years ago and Chrysler UK lost the right to use of the name

So Chrylser UK had to remove any mention of Viper, name-badges from seats, engine, instruments, body-sides, documentation, advertising and sell it as the SRT

The guy started recently to demand monies for the use of 'VIPER' from car importers etc
a £1000 for every sale I heard, I guess PH Classifeds has unfortunately removed VIPER to save any legal aggro

Ah, I see. Can't say as i've heard of that particular kit car. Probably making more out of litigation that cars anyway!

Well must have a limp wrist, story goes Chrysler offer him two SRT10's to allow him the use of the name, story was he wanted 2 million, t055er is right 100 grands worth of cars aint bad for no work.

Never understood this, you can nick the complete look of a car such as the Cobra produce a shoody kit and then sue a manufacturer who has used the name since 93.

The law sometimes is an ass.

Hi,

Just signed up to piston heads. As several of you are aware this gentleman (note my politeness !!) has forced all of us in the trade to take out the name "Viper". The main non franchised dealers like ourselves all received a lawyers letter explaining that if £1,000 was not paid up we would end up with court proceedings. We have all taken the view that if he won against chrysler u.k it is just not worth the risk of aggrivating the situation any more. We have therefore resorted to using SRT-10, GTS and RT-10 as the none names. As for trade descriptions we are stuck either way we play it. I hope some of your are coming to our BBQ and open day on 5th August it should be a great day with plenty of vipers on display.
