Mini Northern Nurgburgring
Discussion
just back from Knockhill after a weekend up the Northern end of North Went up with Nad who was competing in a track event yesterday and we stopped over Colin and Kathy. Track was similiar N-burg very up/down with blind corners and blind crests and quite narrow in places, set around some lovely mountain type scenery
Nad and N did great winning the rear wheel drive class and finishing 3rd overall, and bringing back a few more trophies for the mantle piece
It was Nads first time here so learning the track was needed as the day went on lap times dropped to 59 seconds. The British Touring cars apprantly do around 54 seconds but some of the tuners cars in the pro class competing on saturday ran the same time !

pic 61 the Norris Design £250K short wheel base highly tuned EVO with carbon roof, broke for some reason and failed to run at a critical point of the day
pic 62 was the fastest car (Escort Cosworth 4 wheel drive with 600bhp), a local guy he was flying. Some of the eventual winners of the series will be shipped over for free to the US to compete !

Huge thanks to Neil for his support in coming along, and also to Colin and Kathy for having us stay, and plying me with cakes and laughter. Cheers to Colin for bringing his massive and very orange Ram along to the track as support vehicle, so I had somewhere safe to stow wheels/tires, fuel, and kit etc. After large curries the night before... Neil did a fantastic job riding shotgun in the morning, watching gauges, so I could set a fuel map pre-track. For being such a helpful bloke, I even let him assist with work on Beloved next day, while I fitted a new Window regulator (thanks Spud) thus treating the Brummy boy to a working passengers window for the journey back.
Knockhill circuit was fantastic, challenging but fun; for which much the same can be said for driving a bent chassis / out of alignment Viper, with a shot rear tie-rod joint wobbling the wheel about! To make the day more eventful, brake problems saw us off the track and in the gravel once, cursing the not so wonderful new 2-piece discs!
