Hello there,
Just a couple of questions about servicing. What kind of sparkplugs are needed, will regular do or should they be platinum? Also i've seen the subject raised about 10W 30 grade oil, i've got 10W 40 grade, will this make any difference?
Thanks for the help guys and girls!
Regards,
Craig.

Hi was poking around this forum as we are planning on buying a Viper in a month or so. Concerning the motor oil, the difference in 10/30 and 10/40 shouldn't be seen on start-up as the lower numbers, which represent cold temp protection, are the same. The 10/40 should have slightly higher viscosity number etc when hot. The move to lower vis numbers was initially prompted by auto manufacturers seeking a quick fix for better mileage to enhance their CAFE.

vis-cos-i-ty: the property of a fluid that causes it to resist flow.
Thicker in my book, but hey what do I know, last week i cudnt sperl mer-can-ick now i r 1?
Craig, a little more warm up WONT hurt!
Bill, good luck on your Viper search!
Chuck,
Thanks for the well wishes. We hope to be in one sometime in June. First order of business is selling the Esprit.
My explanation was a little cryptic on the multi-weight oil. While the 10/40 is a "heavier" oil. The viscosity when cold should be the same as the 10/30. When hot both are thinner but the 10/40 shouldn't be as thin as the 10/30. If I remember correctly, the additive package is the key determining factor. I'm five years removed now from my days with the oil company.
Thanks again,
Bill
