Hi guys and gals, another note for your diary

August 20th ASDA Charity Track Day

No Bikes

Short track only

Possible £20 entry (still giving rides) but an open pit lane from 9:30 1:00 the 2:30 to Finish.

What do you think of the 20 quid????? problem?????

Bad news, less than 105DB checked and enforced.

Last years DVD will be with me next week so will copy and send to the two Corvettes and the Vipers who came.

Thanks

Would be handy if someone could get a noise meter and bring it to Silverstone so we can assess the noise level of our cars before committing. I'm sure mine was 108dB when I borrowed my brothers last year, but I stand to be corrected.

I have a noise meter so remind me nearer the time and i will bring it along to the GT.

I think most of us will struggle to get under the 105db, I assume that is the static test, and if so can we find out how it is done.

What worries me the most though will be any drive by meters as the volumes increases significantly at WOT and decel with the crackles and bangs.

what you need to be aware of the DB limit has changed again at Bruntingthorpe,
its now 98db ! As the VMAX crowd recently found out

maybe worth getting that clarified with the organisers Paul, they probably dont even know

I beleive the standard static test if done correctly should be at 3/4 of the rev range, the Db meter should be 45 degrees away from the exhaust (not straight on) at a distance of one metre. With nothing close in the background like trees, fences that would bounce back noise. TB measured 112Db using this method

I think a euro stock viper exhaust would be OK, noise level manufacturers regs means they have to comply with the euro limits, recall a gen2 is 96db, though there's isnt many members running a standard factory exhaust

Also noise will be a loose item enforced by the track owner if you wang it hard in very gear then you may get pulled.

I have agreed 105 db on this special day and no bikes should stop the local complaints
