Hello to you all.
I guess i'm the 'new boy' around here so let me introduce myself. As my name suggests, i'm called Craig and i've just bought myself a Viper GTS. I've wanted a GTS since I first saw one many years ago and couldn't believe it when I actually got one, anyway i'm rambling. Its a blue with white 1997 and is in reasonable condition but thats in the process of being improved.
Onto the more important issues. I've been told that a free flowing cat will prevent the paint on the sills from bubbling, however where would you recommend I go for this type of work? Also, my bonnet doesn't seem to sit quite right so i'd like that looking at and sorting if possible. I'm in the North West area, so the more local the better, but to be honest I just want whats best for the car and the best job doing so any help will be really gratefully received. Thanks for reading and all your help, and its good to be here.
Kindest Regards,
Craig.

Hi Craig,
Welcome and Congrats! I'm from the States but I am out your way every three to four Mouths, hopefully we'll meet.
The Hi-flow cats will reduce the heat but what works real good and I've installed many is the Roe Racing insulation wrap. You can see these products at www.roeracing.com
If you need any OEM parts, I'd be glad to give you some prices and availability.
As for your Bonnet/hood adjustment, it can be a pain in the A$$! You need to get to someone that has a lot of patients!
Also come visit the USA Viper site at www.viperclub.org some good info there!
Good luck with your new love!
Cheers
Chuck

Welcome Craig, great colour choice !
the cats are quite cheap to replace, not only will replacing the the OE's
reduce heat but youll free a few HP and improve the sound as well, so a worthwile mod
Buy the cats from the US and any decent garage/exhaust centre should be able to fit them for you, though you will most likey need an adapter to make up the difference in diameters
of the pipes
no viper bonnet/hood seems to fit the same everyone in the club has different gaps, its a big thing and i've noticed it tends to move slighty over the years. It can be adjusted
look out for a plastic restrictor in the air box (in euro spec cars only) that needs to come out as well, if its there you can see the edge of it when looking into the air duct
(Chuck-pence)
have fun
Neil

Welcome Craig another Northern lad we only need a few more and we can shift the balance from the south to the north afterall.
Viper Wizard (Chuck) is right about the hood what a pain my Viper had previous damage to the front and trying to get the hood to line up is almost impossible since they were never brilliant when they rolled off the production line in the first plenty of patience is in order but check some other motors out first you can stand 10 vipers together and I guarantee you won't get 2 the same.
Great to hear you love your baby I think I speak for everyone we all love em to death and you very often find you have to crowbar a Viper driver out of his seat so much do we love it.
Although some of us have to be crowbarred out of cars for other reasons (way to many bacon butties)
Enjoy your motor and any questions just ask you will be suprised the wealth of information that there is on the forum and we hope to see you at a few meets.

Hi All,
Thanks for the great reply, advice and warm welcome. I've been in touch with a company called Blue Flame who build custom exhaust systems with free flow cats for TVR's etc etc so they are taking a look just after easter and giving me an idea of how much a new system will be, so that'll be nice i'm sure! As for the bonnet, i guess i'll see what happens on that front.
Chuck (Viper Wizard) thanks for the offer of parts etc and it couldn't have come at a better time. Any chance you could find an OEM Sump Gasket for me? That would be such a huge help to me, i couldn't thank you enough. Getting in touch, and meeting you all at a few meets, would be really good, i'll keep my eyes open for ones coming up, but i warm you my car isn't like it should be right now, but it is on the road to recovery! Anyway once again thanks for the warm welcome and great response!

Hi Craig,
I have that gasket in stock and can get it right out to you. It may take a week or so in shipping to you? E-mail me your address at tatorsdodge@msn.com or you can call me 914-763-3136 [I am five hours behind you] and I'll start the ball rolling.
Cheers

hi chuck..how are things. Did I tell you the recalls on the GTS went well, and now going to order the hi-flo cats but not sure whether to get the 2.5" or 3" from random tech. or can you get hold of them. I am in US, down in Houston then maybe NY for a couple of days in may..so could try and get them delivered to my office there..if they could fit in my hand luggage..what do you reckon?

Things are good here! And with you? I followed your thread when you did the Recall, that's good they did it right. If Carl has some 3' hi-flo cats you can use a adapter 3' to 2.5' and fit them to your stock front exhaust pipe. Then if in the future you want to go with headers, you can now remove the adapters so the cats can fit the headers.
If your in NY your more then welcome to stop by!
