I have a 2006 SRT-10 coupe that I was considering importing to the UK so that I could sell it. However, I know nothing about how to go about doing this. Could anyone please inform me of what laws I should be aware of? How much does a car like this go for in the UK right now? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

After duty taxes and the SVA test, if you are doing it for a profit forget it.

If you are moving over here then the lights are the biggest issue HID's need to have headlamp washers fitted or be converted to bulb, side repeater indicators, white front side lights, rear red fog lights and best if its a standard car as anything with a modified exhaust will almost certainly fail.

You can avoid paying tax and duty (about 30% of car's US cost) if you've owned it in US for 6 months and then (I think) owned in the UK for a year.

I'm am not trying to make money, just break even. I think I am about 5-10,000 upside down in the car and I was hoping to make that up by selling where they are less common. I find it hard to believe that there is not a "creative" way to avoid some of those taxes.

I think it's a year, and a great way to avoid any VAT and Duty - and open to anyone spending at least a year OUT of the UK. However, you can't sell the car for 18 months after imported (otherwise, there would be a queue of people buying Ford GT's - currently around £90,000 , then driving them around the US for a year before importing them to the UK and making a good profit).
