2006 VCA Membership
Discussion
Hi Tom,
Don't feel to bad, I am in the States and I have not received my membership yet ether!! VCA cashed my check in December and here it is March!
I have talked with the editor of the "Viper Quarterly" and he said if someone were to send them pictures and an article/write-up to them that they would be happy to print it. [Hint Hint Paul!]
Hang in there Tom, we are all in the same boat!
Cheers

MrL sends in articles every time, but they dont always print it but choose to use the space advertising a dodge neon instead... I know this pee's him off, the write ups dont appear in the main magazine but in the 'viper news', which is supposed to come out inbetween the quarterly mag.
to be fair the people running it are said to be volunteers, some of the costs are covered by Dodge but if they decide to collect money a more professional outfit is required as the service they provide is a bit hit and miss
for me I sent the form back in december and the dues still havent been collected I havent heard back, I keep hearing on the US forums the on-going story things will be sent in a couple of weeks. They dont seem to update their records and for me they have an old 10 year old email address on their system, even though every year I tell them it changed... though the $45 is a norminal amount I've decided this year not to repeat myself, ring in or chase my membership up. We will see what happens...
I personally see our club as a UK club really, even producing a UK newsletter is a time consuming effort considering everything we do/organise is on a voluntry basis and the amount of actual owners we are talking about

I do agree the service is crap, but most of the people are volenteers.
This is always the worst time of year for me but a mag is due any day I have seen the proof.
I do send letters and photo's but they are not always printed.
Actual cost to a UK member is 25 pounds which is not even a tank of gas, or a bottle or NOS, bet an EVO subscription costs more.
I understand the frustration but bear with it....please.
People keep bringing up having a UK club, with subs but that means a committe a treasurer etc and to be honest with a max of 25 cars turning up do we need a committe of six people, when what we need is a few people to organise events.
Also please remember that every issue I have to spend my time writing a ditty and very few of you out there send me any photos.
So come on lets all pull together if we split into those that belong and those that don't the whole thing will crumble into dust and we will do nothing.
Again its only 26 pounds a year, and you get VOI, Viper four times, Viper Notes, which now lists our events (posted out by me at my expense) and you free gift (god pray its not a diary) plus the US forum and site.
Just my 10 cents

Some fair comments from you both, I guess only time will tell what the future has in store for the club(VCA part),but I can`t help feeling that it`s not changing with the times (VCA). I think our own Viper Club UK (part of VCA) does a very good job, like Paul for passing on all the info to us, the Web site is also very well done for such a small number of members and it was put together for free!. In fact I would like to say a big thank you to all the un-sung hero`s of the U.K Viper Club (like Neil for the great Web site and Paul for all his efforts and articles sent to the VCA even if they don`t get printed Baz and Steve also) Thanks for your own time given up on club issues! and without the efforts of Viper nuts like yourselfs the U.K Viper Club wouldn`t be what it is!
(I have removed my earlier RANT, about the VCA as it was written after a few glasses of wine,.....never a good idea to go on Pistonheads after a few drinks!)

viper paul said:Great points Paul! .........and yes, a split would not be a positive for our U.K Club, and maybe as the number of Viper`s rise in the U.K over next few year a time may come when the need and demand is there, but as you point out,now it not the time. Thanks again Paul for doing such a great job for us all !

Nothing here.
Every year they write that I am a member of the German VCA. BS.
For years I am a member of the Swiss VCA now - thats a fact.
Even the Swiss VCA president tried to fix this at least two times...I am eager to see how and whether it will work in the future.
I have tried several times to get my address corrected, because there are two major errors in the address they use. Without a result. They don't care.
The computer system (address and mailing) they are working with must be an "oldie".
I can't help but for a club with a few (4000?) thousand members worlwide a reliable "system" should be used to administer the data and membership issues...
