one of my mates who I've known since I was 5 years old rang up (so 20 odd years of knowing him ) this afternoon out of the 'blue' he's keen for a sporty motor for the summer and mentioned that he spotted a GTS on autotrader. My relentless viper fun stories must of made a mark over the years !

a few phone calls later and we are off for a viewing tomorrow am close to Camberley, very close to a few other club owners me thinks

anything in particular to look out for a 97 ? apart from the usual stuff
also bearing in mind its spent most of its life at Silverstone

Chassis damage, brake wear , sill damage & underbody damage , suspension wear? But as everyone knows Silverstone cars are all B/W ........coz it,s STILL the fastest colour!

Hi Neil,

Camberley is 5 miles from mine.I would have invited you round for coffee but I won`t be in Fleet. Viperdave is also local.
Hope you don`t get lost.

here's the low down, no sale, it didnt jump out straight away like a good car should, badly presented even though it was described in 'great condition' and the story given was a little weird condsidering I knew more about the car than the owner with some help from Dr Bob

to many bad points, after a couple of minutes we knew it was one to walk away from even though we was expecting a few problems.

just some of the problems, harnesess but no seat belts (needed for MOT), wheels spray painted silver matt and kerbed quite badly, gas cap painted silver with an aerosol by a five year old, general scratches/chips all over the car and poor paint work and large body gaps, missing interior trim, missing exterior trim, missing amplifier, worn through side seat bolsters to the sponge, badly scratched plastic trim around door buttons, 6" crack in window screen (drivers side/MOT failure) trying to be hidden with a sticker, rotten/leaking/blowing exhaust, erratic idle probably due to leaking exhaust manifold, rust over all fixings, missing all rivits around rear drivers quarter and other fixings .. then we lifted the hood more scratched plastics, corrosion ...didnt bother looking underneath, trying heater, A/C or giving it a quick MOT etc or even go for a test drive. It needs a lot of TLC for a road car in its current state, but probably make a good track car

the safety devices roll bar and fire supression system were still in place, as were the Alcon floating front discs

on the bright side we had a lovely pub sunday lunch on the way back and another GTS has appeared on the market, so hopefully a viewing lined up for Tuesday

Thanks for the update Neil, sounds like a bag of bolts! poor car needs some serious TLC by the sound of things. Good luck with the next one.

Looks like it may sell for around £25k and the ebay bid comes from Germany!

No!
Two cars are the same, you obviously have a good one there, however the one being discussed on here from the info gathered appears to be a bit below par.

I meant to say I'm definately pleased with mine, around midnight I forget how to type...I had seen that car for sale over the past year, each time the price dropped rapidly so I know it was ragged out. Owner probably bought it just to try and sell for a profit, not obsessed with the car as most of us are!

Sounds like it has been put through it's paces since it was in the paintshop..
Holes in seats and painted wheels, fuelcap and so on....
Cant understand why he would of removed the amp. There was one out of the four that had the stereo kit removed but thought that was DADSTOY's car..
Sounds like it may be suited to being a track car only..
