Hi guys and gals, another note for your diary

August 24th ASDA Charity Track Day

No Bikes

Short track only

Possible £20 entry (still giving rides) but an open pit lane from 9:30 1:00 the 2:30 to Finish.

What do you think of the 20 quid????? problem?????

Bad news, less than 105DB checked and enforced.

Last years DVD will be with me next week so will copy and send to the two Corvettes and the Vipers who came.

Thanks

105db standard exhausts only then
not many vipers at the 06 event, or anything else with a sporty note ?

to give you guys an idea TB's exhaust setup measured 112dbs, one metre away from tips at 45 degrees @3000 revs (3/4 throttle) the motorsport standard I beleive

Can probably make the £20, £30 if they overlook the DB limit. Working towards reducing it but don't know if i will make it with what i have planned

High flow cats will be going in soon with vortex cones as well so will have to see if it comes down much

Yet another event ruined by the stupid noise police

£20 is not a problem money wise, but it's a bit cheeky considering our cars are what makes the day so special and it already costs us all a fair whack in time, travel and petrol.

Open pit lane is a much better idea (with no bikes) as this will make it more relaxed and allow us to keep an even flow of Vipers through the day.

Pretty sure my car measured 108dB when last tested, so looks like I won't be able to attend

Standard exhaust on my SRT 10 so no problem. Got the battery drain problem fixed which caused my non appearance last year. So yes, please put me down (for Bruntingthorpe, not permanently!).

Interestingly when I was at Bruntingthorpe for a TV shoot with my 'Vette(2004)there was no problem with noise restriction, since I run that on chambered exhausts.

Count us in Paul £20 no prob but as stated it is a little cheeky considering how much fuel we all use, maybe asda could provide a mobile bowser of fuel at discount prices or at least there forecort price since the only gas station is about 10 million miles away.

I can bring a hand held sound meter to the Luton gathering to see who is 105db or lower, perhaps we could have a contest to see who has the LOUDEST Viper as well...

Oh yea..last year I attended the Travis Perkins charity track day just a couple weeks after the ASDA day at Bruntingthorpe, no noise limit..surely they can make an exception for this cause as well...

measured at PistonFest a couple of years ago got a peak of 129.2db with
hi-flows at max revs, the guy said it was the pops/bangs that spiked the reading. There was about 3 cars louder, a de-cat cerbera was loudest hit 132.

I think all the vipers with a sporty system will all be roughly the same, as most sound a similar volume on the road, with a couple of exceptions

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.

brunters limit has already dropped to 98db....
seems the VMAX boys on sunday had a few slightly over the limit cars

interestingly there was a ram S/C SRT ram @VMAX that did around 169mph !

of course you can still go, at least your aware of the problem some will turn up without knowing

judging by the VMAX posts just dont be surprized if you are not allowed to run, or if you manage to get on track and then are asked to remove yourself
from the circuit after a couple of laps

I bet they will be very tight on noise restrictions by then, ashame really

With more and more tracks and airfields being eliminated to serious horsepower cars by the noise police, will the innocent speed freak be driven to racing on the open road. Whats happening to keep your speeding for the track ? If the only cars that will make the unrealistic noise limits are little 4 cylinders like my Toyota (97db ) where are the real cars going to go, apart from the street ?
Maybe next there will be speed limits on tracks ( for the safety of the spectators !!!)

Thank goodness for the IOM and Germany, the last bastions of freedom for fast cars and fast bikes . But as I said above, both those speed havens involve speed on the open road......even the glorious Nurburgring is noise limited.
