just spent two hours cleaning the wheels on my rt/10!!.as a few of you know, when viper owned the car he had the wheels stripped and polished,so they take a lot of looking after!!.i bought a couple of large buffing wheels and polishing compound for the electric drill.tried it and then decided a large amount of elbow grease and a tube of solvol autosol will do the trick!!.they absolulely gleam !! i wish you could all see them.
new stripes next week! some really good quality material!!
sorry to bore you!!!

once buffed retaining the shinyness is fairly easy keeping them dry is the secret, if they get wet dry them off ASAP

I got into the habit of 'dry-cleaning' them regardless after every run if just to remove brake dust

(send me a pic and i'll post it for you)

for longer lasting shine without having to use a metal polish all the time , use zymol wax from halfords after using a metal polish.
Last year I only had to polish my wheels twice, as long as you don't leave salt/grit off the road on your wheels, and wash them down with wash/wax zymol after using your viper, unlaquered wheels need not be a hassle.
