Will probably be in the market for a new toy in a few months, having sold the TVR recently.

I, over the last couple of weeks have found myself being tempted by an SRT10, but know bugger all about them.

I obviously know how much they cost to buy (new or used), but what about running costs (service costs/schedules), residuals, etc, etc. Seen a 55 plate conv. for just under 60k, with less than a 1k miles on it. But what would it be worth in a couple of years with an additional 20k on its mileage ?

Also, never had a LHD car before, which I have to admit is a bit off-putting. Suppose it makes no differnce on empty roads/airfields/tracks, etc, just a little bit of a nuisance on the daily commute.

Interesting questions. Well last year I bought an SRT10 Viper which was my third Viper after an RT/10 then a GTS, it is by far the best so far for comfort performance brakes and handling, I enjoy driving it on the track.

I paid 59K for mine it was new but built in 04, known as a White Mamba it is one of only 200 built and features a red/black interior. My honest opinion is it will hold its value a bit better as it is probably the only one in Europe.

My last service bill was 240 pounds and included oil and filter my last service on the GTS which included plugs and other sundries was 365 on a three year old car, not bad.

I traded my GTS for the SRT, I originally paid 52K and got 39 as a tradein after 4 years so pretty good residuals for a 'Supercar'.

So far in mine in six months I have done over 5k miles in it the l/h drive is not a problem as the performance makes overtaking a dream.

Things to watch:-

03 cars suffer from weak centre diff pins, so not too many doughnuts please.
04's should have had a recall for the cam bolt not being torqued and lock sealed.
Also on 04's get someone to check the crank pulley some have come loose damaging the crank beyond repair so worth a couple of minutes work (If its had the cam recall done then the crank will have been re-loctited.

Problems:- none however the exhaust has a cross over pipe to balance the sound of the exhaust which is behind the seats this does tend to make the cabin warm in the summer but you only really notice it when you get stuck in traffic.

IMHO they need stripes, if only to stop people walking round the back to work out by the badge what car it is...stripe it and everyone knows its a Viper

Roof is brilliant does not leak but you do need the windows down or both doors open and the trunk before you can raise it, bit of a problem when you parked it close.

All in all, brilliant build quality, road presence, looks stunning love it.

If you want to see mine or need any further help give me a PM and I will give you a phone number to call me.

Hi
Dont even ponder on it,buy one i have had both vipers, gts and srt 10 and would not hesitate to recommend the srt10 viper. good daily driver or track car, love mine, far more refined and a tad quicker as standard than the gen 2 cars, tried the new coupe but very cramped if your 6ft plus, as paul comments service very reasonable i have had no problems with my car since purchase 12 mts ago

Had my 04 SRT10 for 8 months now and love it to bits. Left hand drive not a porblem but then I'm used to that anyway with other cars. Took the Viper to the South of France for a fortnight last Spetember and had a ball. Got so much positive attention people were coming up to me in filling stations and taking phone camera pictures. As fo the performance its just stunning nothing could keep with it on the French Autoroutes. Even the Gendarmes waved at me to slow down and did'nt book me. Best car I've ever owned.
