My old man has asked me to try and find a viper for him. He is after an RT-10, preferably an early model with the side pipes. I have seen a couple advertised over in the US at specialists for as little as £18k but would like advice on what would be required and the costs involved once landed in UK. Also if anyone has imported one and has any tips?

Alternatively if anyone knows of suitable cars this side of the pond that are not silly money then that would also be useful. I keep an eye on PH classifieds, autotrader, mobile.de etc but am aware that cars often change hands without being advertised.

There's a couple on the UK site that may be of interest, although will cost you more:

There's also an import guide:

Good luck!

as a rough guide adding 33% to the price of a US car, will be the UK on the road price after taxes,SVA,shipping etc. So £18K might not turn out to be a bargain, youll be looking around £25K and up for a early RT there's not than many to choose from here

Thanks to all those who have contacted me so far. I had a feeling that there would be more cars out there available than the usual sources suggested.

I've seen a damaged red '94 car for sale for 12.5k at a salvage yard. There can't be many of these around, and I guess that members of the forum may know the car I am talking about. Does anyone know the history and whether the damage is more than meets the eye? (having dealt with salvage before I have seen a few supposed "bolt on" repairs jobs that ended up needing far more work)

(I'm reluctant to put up a link to the car in question as I may inadvertantly point someone else towards it, sorry!)

Cheers
