I've got the full 998 recall step by step (some 50 odd pages)on a file from Dodge, the dealerships only get paid for around 6 hours I recall

The UK dealerships wont pay for a hire car but will send a flatbed
for delivery/collection if you trust them !

Couple of weeks?? NO WAY!! I have now done over 180 998 & 999 Recalls, DC pays the Dealer 5.3 hours for 998 and it now takes me 7.5 hours to do it right!
Woolfie get a set of instructions for 998 and go over it with the Dealer that is doing it! If it's not done right, they can really f**k up your Viper!

Norwich is where mine was done, didn't get a flat bed but did get a courtesy PT, took a week but some of that was me dropping off one weekend and picking up the next. mind you i thought they did a few more test drive miles than necessary, other than that the work seemed to be good quality and i can still change the oil filter.

for your car BV a front strengthening mod, for the earlier cars there is rear end frame and differential work as well, which is time consuming bit

New triangle braces to the front cross member and frame rails, if done right you can still change the oil filter, if done wrong you will never get it out. (nb the side that already has a brace bar is the wrong way)

A new vertical strut on the drivers rear chassis which necessitates dripping the diff to put it in.

If any cracks are found in the chassis then it becomes a whole lot more involved.

Edited as neil is right, rear is only on the older ones.

the 2 weeks away, is elapsed time..the viper tech wanted to allow for 15 - 20 hours and its getting all the stuff done with other work. They say all the parts are in; I'll make sure they talk through the process. Maybe I'll get them to call you chuck to explain any of the problems.

I shall go over the stuff with him and take the info from this site and US viper site so they are aware of all the issues. Anyone have the links to hand, otherwise I'll track them down. The tech. has done it before.

I am getting worried again now as after some thought I would rather it was done than not. Anyone up for an independent inspection during or at the end of the work.

woolfie if your email can accept a large attached file I can send you the dodge file, its a .pdf file

only Chrysler HQ will know which cars were done by running the VIN, a dealership will ring up HQ to find out if they are made aware of the recall issue, or its something the owner can do. Beleive some letters were issued but it was a bit hit and miss. The work has to be carried out at a Chrysler approved garage, some dealerships will 'sub' the work out to a private garage, my local dealership was one of them

The recall work on my GTS is still outstanding, so there's one at least
If you track your car the US opinion is, its a must do job, though all cars should be done

You'd know usually if its the only decent bit of welding on the car.

Has any one taken a look at the poor standard of welding done at factory on the chassis.

Phoenix, look for two triangulare pieces of metaal that are riveted to the chassis, not welded if done corretly you should be able to see and do a theoretical oil filter removal past the hole.

This piece is connected to a chassis cross piece no the steering rack. thats from memory its a long time since I looked under my old girl.......seven months.
