Questions about Vipers & ownership
Discussion
OK, so I'm thinking about maybe getting an early example of a Viper and I have a few questions about them & ownership, I hope some of the more experienced people can help me out before I take the plunge
1. I read that early RT/10 Vipers had no door handles. So, uh, how do you open the door?
2. What's a good place to get insurance. I have looked online at a couple of the common companies (AA etc.) and they either have an 'assumptions' list with stuff like 'we assume your car is right hand drive' or their systems don't understand what a 1994 RT/10 is - only post 1997 GTS's.
3. Is there any problem using a Viper as an everyday car? Aside from the usual impracticalities of not much boot space, I'm not going to break anything am I?
4. Is it worth going after an early RT/10 with a hard top - is the regular soft top too flaky to use in the wet etc?
Edit:
5. On servicing... will any Chrysler dealer be able to do it? Or am I better off elsewhere?
Finally, anything else I might've missed? There isn't much which could put me off getting one, I just want to know as much as I can before I go looking
Thanks for any help.

Hi
Gen1 vipers
They have NO door handles you have to open the door from the inside door handle..
Not much go wrong with them in general pre 96 vipers were prone to head gassgets.
The factory soft top is OK but not if your going to use it as an every day car..
Any Chrysler garage will do the work but make sure they dont drive it(been a few accidents)
The hard top and side windows are a big improvment(you will need to fit a remote door poper)
Insurance i would use adrian flux or headly insurance..

Good luck

That's great you've answered all my questions
So I guess I'll go after a hardtop example... I'm guessing it's fairly safe to assume the previous owner would already have a door popping system fitted?
Just one additional... what happens if your door popping system breaks? Are you locked out of the car?

Some have lockable windows as well....
Theres always a way....

I suppose your username sums you up really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No need for that, he is only seeking advice.
You really can't go wrong in purchasing a Viper, since i bought mine i have not been interested in any other marque, and i have owned some sports cars over the years.
