door wont open! gts 1997

Don't know if anyone can offer a solution to this, but when i depress my door switch it clicks properly but wont open, there is a noise coming from the drivers footwell somewhere when the switch is pressed.

Any help appreciated.

Is it the drivers door???
If so open the door and look into the rubber gromet..
They tend to break in there due to the door opening and closing..
Does the speaker still work in the same door?

thanks for the prompt response, it is the passenger door,
the switch is working ok, there is an electrical noise when the switch is depressed which appears to be in the drivers footwell.

could it be a relay or earth problem?

There is the same loom on the passengers side as well but not as common to go faulty..
