If I replace my cats with straight pipe does it mean it'll fail the next MOT ?

yep it will fail, put flanges on all the parts then you can just bolt them in/out as neccesary.

Your neighbours wont be to happy, extra noise, which may make some tracks unavailable too

According to my MOT station if you put a CAT less viper in they will do the emission test but if it fails and the car isn’t in the computer they retest to pre cat standards which is a basic test which providing you have a decent tune you should pass. Basically if it’s not in the computer they don’t know what they should be measuring against.

I have not actually presented the viper yet for testing after taking the cats out so don’t know for real if this will work. I can also say that Neil was right and CAT less with Bellangers and Corsa is really too loud. It’s OK with the windows up and if you drive gentile but WOT in the summer with the windows down saw a 105dba reading in the passenger seat and I was asked to “have a rest” at Bruntngthorpe after registering 122db in their drive by sound meters.

It sounds awesome but the ringing in the ears and the feeling of being audibly stunned after each drive is leading me down the route of putting cats back in. It was a fun experiment that didn’t cost too much as I had to put something between the headers and the corsa and the 3” pipe was cheap but I think there will be cats in place before the summer and next MOT for the sake of my hearing.

I also SOP think that full CAT less was actually down a bit on low rev torque than before which was a bit disappointing. I must call Vixpy and get it on his dyno to be sure though

Cheers

I need to order K & N's, smooth tubes, and Eibachs from Parts Rack so maybe I ought to add some freeflow cats to the order to save on the aggrevation, is it worth getting tyres from Parts Rack or does the carriage make them very expensive ?
