I have a new 2005 Viper excellent car BUT!!! in spite of positive approaches to it (!) The manual states that the battery will flatten if not driven in 20 days....this car is flattening the battery in about 13/4.....I can of course call in an auto sparks, but want to avoid the cost if its something simple/silly. No lights are left on, radio, interior lamps etc so HELP! what can it be? The alternator is not showing discharge when running (via the guage in the car)....any clues will assist me I am sure Also the alarm goes off even AFTER the battery has been charged up for 3 days, so I am called out of bed quite often at 2/3/4am! I assumed the alarm prob was ude to the discharge but the topped up battery contradistcs that theory!
IDEAS?

Yep quite right you need an Accumate or an Optimate unlike a battery charger it conditions the battery, if you use an ordinary charger all you will do is fry the battery.

Had my last Viper four years with the same battery no problems at all when I sold the car the battery was as fresh as a daisy.

Problem is modern cars still use power to keep ECU settings and the alarm, radio station, clock settings etc, not much but enough to flatten a battery.

Tracker systems also don't help and it may be that your original battery is already damaged if the car has remained unused for some time.

IMO 40 quid well spent!!! Mr SRT10 alarm has nevr gone off.

Happy Vipering
