Hi all anyone had any experience making the exhaust note quieter? I am taking the car to croft this Sunday and the noise limit is 100db. I have purchase my own db metre and its reading 116 db.

116? Is that all!You could try DemonTweeks and get a restrictor to fit into the exhaust tips, this is what a Viper friend of mine does when sprinting at Goodwood.(think he got it down to 98ish)

got two Supertrapp's sound like they are the ideal solution for loud american cars.

"SuperTrapp is the only U.S.D.A. Forest Service Approved spark arrestor without restrictive swirl baffles or fragile screens.

The exhaust outlet is formed by stacking the individual diffuser discs to form a series of annular openings. The precise spacing between the discs provides a barrier against noise and sparks without restricting the exhaust flow. The number of diffuser discs required is proportional to engine size. The exhaust noise will be minimized when the least number of discs is used.

As the exhaust flows out radially between the discs, the noise is first dissipated and then diffused over a quiet 360° pattern. After leaving the discs, the exhaust path curves inward toward the centerline and is rapidly cooled by mixing with the surrounding air. Only 1⁄2" side clearance is required between the disc’s outer edge and any heat sensitive areas."

I use these:

www.secureperformanceorder.com/dynatechdragstore/vortex.cfm

This don't go in the tips.

They are a more permanent solution, and are placed in the pipe upstream from your mufflers. Probably an hour of labor at any good exhaust shop.

They don't restrict exhaust flow to any significant extent, and before and after dyno testing on my car revealed no loss of power or torque. Sound reduction was quite good. Brought my overall sound levels down from truly obnoxious to reasonable.

They look really cool and very simple, what locks them into the exhaust tips????

Would really like to make my old girl a bit quieter.

the supertrapp is used by many of the racing teams as it does not restrict the emmisions in any way.

Can you get the Vortex cones in the UK, or is it a case of ordering direct - really think I need them (getting a little worried about the earth tremors I'm causing past 3000rpm)
