I'm contemplating changing these myself as a first step to curing the idle hang - so is this a viable DIY job or should I get the dealer to do it ? Any tips ?

Hi Peter hope you and the Viper are well heard your a gluton for further punishment!!!!

Cured my idle hang by using a plastic piece in the air sensor tube with a 25/64 of an inch hole in the centre.

Cured mine but if you are sucking in air it could be the inlets but you should hear it.

Spray WD40 around the inlet gasket with the car ticking over.......if the revs increase then you've found your problem.

It should be a straightforward job but have you made a proper diagnosis? There could be a lot of simple reasons for an erratic idle. These should be explored first. You could spray all around the inlet area using Carb Start. If you want to chat, by all means call me.
