Problem with Gumball is it's a 'prestige' be-seen-at event, and the admission is £10,000 (for which you seem to get around £1500 of accomodation/ferries/parties, and pay around £8500 for a set of mapquest style directions, and the privilidge of driving with them on public roads!

Just hate it when you get poor value for money - though I fancy the Driver's Run to Eastern Europe next year (still just over £4k though).

I did the last Cannonball Run Europe - it was rubbish, only redeeming feature was the company of fellow car nuts - otherwise a rip off - you didn't even get the trip promissed! At least I got to see myself in the DVD, throwing 'money' around.

I'm giving serious thought to organising a run that is substantially cheaper - say, costing 'nothing at all' + ferry/hotel costs (and even the hotels are optional!)

Any takers?

Put me down for some of that.....I won't enter these "thrill" events as I don't fancy getting mugged at gun point in some third world country in Eastern Eurooe or paying for a 5 star hotel room and not getting the chance to spend any time in the bed or more importantly the bar.......

In fact you should join our trip to Hockenheim in July

For €400 you get to race against other Vipers and Corvettes plus you get to drive there and back at a total cost of fuel + Eurotunnel and a couple of nights in a hotel.

ask el Presidente for a reference!
