any idea who has the best price on rear tyres at the moment? as they don't seem to last as long as I thought.

I always found CostCo had competitive prices, but not used them.

Try QuickFit........Not sure where you are but my local......err.....sorry,X-local used to do me a set for $980 inc fitting and balance. The prices from them are around £1300 for a set but if you ask,"whats your best price" they usually come up with something near the grand mark (17" jobs).Try them, you maybe surprised!

I have a set of tyres(currently still on standard rims) with only 2 - 3,000miles of use. No reasonable offer refused, if of any interest to you.

Regards,

Phil

I've squiralled away a pair of 18" Pilots when they were cheap a while back (they arent for sale)

Michelin over produced, when the SRT came out with 19" so they were stuck with big stocks of 18" rubber they couldnt sell direct to the factory, of course the
cheap prices only lasted for a couple of months...

thats a kind of a how long is a peice of string type question

I guess around 3-12K depending how hard you push them on the street for Michelins, I've still have the same set that was on the car nearly 3 years ago, they weren't new then... must do more miles !

Michelin designed the Pilot Sports 335's espicially for the viper in mind, their biggest market

I had a set of p-z on the gen1 and they lasted around 5K normal road use, quite a soft compound grippy in the dry, but naff in the wet, but who drives a viper hard in the wet

Khomho (you need the motorsport version) do viper'ish sizes if you want sticky and extra bags of grip, thats what lots run in the US as well as a few here, ideal for higher horse power cars

I had my car in december which was bought unseen from california . One of the pilots on the rear was almost half worn but had plenty of tread left (which I was not too happy about considering I paid top dollar for the car) , the other one was like new and now approx 1200 miles later I am down to the markers on the one which has surprised me .I thought they would have lasted a lot longer considering it has only been used for the road.

have they even wear ? you should be getting a lot more than 1200

I must of put nearly 6000 on the current rears with still enough thread to last until after next summer

the wear is very even , slightly more on the inside but I have been told that is normal for vipers.

Softer tyres grip better, so with less spin, often less wear!

I think your right , the more grip the less spin .
perhaps having different amounts of tread on both rear wheels has made the situation worse.
