Did no-one watch it? Surprised not to see any comments here on the Viper v's 'vette shootout on 5th Gear Monday. Wasn't very technical and they hated the Viper, but each to their own...

I watched the tape last night.

I'm suprised not to see hordes of Viper owners frothing at the mouth and chanting "Burn Jason Plato".

Considering they thought both cars were rubbish, I was surprised by the smiles on both their faces when driving both cars.
They just didn't like to admit that both cars were entertaining, and instead decided to fall back on the usual American cars are crap / don't handle statement. etc, etc.
Just means that Vettes and Vipers will remain exclusive in the UK, thanks to their comments, this suits me fine.
I was driving my GTS the other night when a youngish lady seemed to appreciate my Viper she lifted her top and showed me her tits, I haven't experienced that in any other car before.

Totally agree with you 10 CYL.
I also thought it a bit strange that they never took the Viper and Vette ROAD CARS, on the road and they never took the Atom TRACK CAR on the track. I think they got a bit confused.

Yep was a pretty stupid film really compare a C6 packed with electonics against a Viper that just has ABS...there both American?????

Test the handling by power sliding them??????

Surley with a G metre or something at least we would know which was best.

Got to love the Viper.....quick or what, and I loved the brakes on the one I drove.

And last but by no means least test two road cars on the track and a track day special on the road ????

My solution is to not watch driving shows on the TV.

C6 ZO6 whips the new GTS big time and makes it look a bit of a joke.Spec sheet on the new Z06 makes for serious and cheap fun, unlike the new GTS thats living of the GEN1/GEN2 legend. The new Vipers lost the plot for me when they went for a 8.2 liter engine to make more power!....err...why?I can,t believe that I,m saying this but the Vette Z06 is the way to go and this car WILL WIN on the tracks in its GTS/R form make no mistake. The Gen1/Gen2 was a real step back to the Cobra/60,s days and they got away with it and we love Chrysler for going ahead with the Viper but the new cars are just living off the hype/legend and race history made buy these first car.For me the new range of Viper Gen3 is just a joke,it maybe that it handles and performs but if the Original Viper had not come into being these new Gen3 cars would look even more of a joke than they already are,and would find an even harder place in the car market. The z06 is around $8,000 cheaper than the GTS and comes with 200mph performance high 11,s in the 1/4mile and lots of high teck materials & fittings plus a large weight loss over the current Viper........Oh....but it doesn,t have a cup holder!Sorry guys but the new Vette Z06 will make history, the new Viper GTS won,t!.Long live the GEN2 Blue/White GTS,s......I love em!

The guy doesn't have the skill to powerslide a Viper, so he decides that the car is unpredictable at the limit. And yet, the Viper made him look pretty good. You think there would have been any way he would have beat Tiff in the drag race or around the track if Tiff was in the Viper?

I thought Clarkson's Top Gear evaluation was more even handed (and more entertaining.)

Hands up who has ever slid their car and tried to power on to drift it on a public road.

That's....nobody. Thanks.

I think the Boxster vs Z4 proved the differences on the road are non-existent. I do like the old 5th Gear with the same driver punting a car round the circuit and then superimposing the second car onto the first car's film. The Noble 400 vs EvoFQ400 was enlightening.

The Playstation thrash round the track is entirely academic although it proves what we already knew, theat the first car to reach the first bend is the winner. Long live American muscle.
