A proper drag race event at last!:hehe:

Yep! this event is gonna take some beating! Its the Lawrence Street 1/4 mile event held in some rinkey dink ex goldmining town out in the middle of knowwhere! It seems that once a year all sorts of old and new bangers are brought out for this 1/4mile closed road event.Sounds like a laugh so I,ve entered the Venom, thought it might give the Hillbillys something to talk about.I don,t think anyone in this sleepy out of the way town (term used very loosely as population about 100 or so but BIG for N.Z standards)has ever seen a Viper let alone one at full bore!Should be a blast!.Its on Saturday,on a closed road that used to be used for the Goldmine back in the 1800,s...Life,s so short not to!Will send some pics.
Yep!Since I,ve been in N.Z we have seen some very crude looking but fast cars so I,m not counting my chickens! But it will be fun whatever!
No NOS yet Neil, and once the house is sold we hope to upgrade the engine with a few mods like heads/cam/pushrods/Vec2 as i like the idea of running big power without the NOS at the moment. The kit worked realy well but the Octaine of the fuel is a fair bit different over here and until I get around to finding a tuning company who I trust to set it up again and can be spot on with the air/fuel ratio,s were gone leave it for the mo.Everyone seems to run with drag radials here and looking back over the last year at our time slips it seems that we need to go that way also as were just not getting the power down and are loosing way to much time in the 60ft.Once we are getting good times there then were move on to more power.Longterm I,d be happy with the motor running 600bhp+ all day every day, with the NOS/LPG kit that,s worth around 180/200bhp used only for drag racing and the odd "test" session.Anyway gotta go now as it,s race day tommorow!I,ll be flying the flag for the U.K.VIPER CLUB!

A few pics,The Strip!nice dip in the middle! The T-Bucket may look like shite but it grips rather well!and won the event with a 10sec@140!a very fast shoe box with a 850bhp 7ltr V8 and weight of 3/4 ton (740 pound). And the Venom lined up ready to go.Out of 84 cars it came 4th behind 3 drag cars and was the fastest road legal car, next up was a modded ZR1 about 7/10,s slower.I managed a 12.5 on Mitch,s and a very poor damp surface, and even managed to go home with a few bits&bobs at the prize giving!Cool day out at the Gold Rush Town!
