Just to add my pence worth to the recent forum 'off topic' discussion which raised good points by all who contributed -

I'm happy with the information supplied by the club - well done Mark.clap You have always supplied me with the relevant club updates and information. Any email has always been promptly answered.

Unfortunately, 'many of the few' are scattered throughout the UK and those to the north are too far away for the southern events. I certainly would attend the NEC if the club has a stand.

Mark tried to persuade me to attend the Dunsfold event but time away and distance for a one day event was my reason to say 'no'.

I would prefer to save my time for the European event - this summer's event in Colmar, France was brilliant........52 carscloud9.
it was great to travel out 'in convoy' with the UK cars and the relaxing long weekend was conducive to club bonding and making friends. I clocked up 2750 miles and made many friends in the Euro Viper community.

As for Facebook....count me out - I prefer Pistonheads, a less 'cliquesh' site where I can follow all the other cars and topics that I find interesting.

seems like this thread was created as a more appropriate place.

As for the UK Driveviper.co,uk website, that site is purely a link site to the main USA forums and information board on some stuff from the past. Its not an Active site (and was never intended to be) Its full of Old articles of past events and archive material.
rolleyes

As I have been out all day Its funny you should post something like that as I came to the sad conclusion this morning before reading it that it would be better for me to move on from managing the website as I feel it should very much be actively updated with event reports and photos , but which is impossible when the web-admin is excommunicated form club goings on. But reading that tonight it has confirmed my decision is likely the correct one.

However for the record when the website was created I did indeed resurrect some of the content from the original website from a collection of text and photos, But the site was completely created from scratch with many many hours/days of time spent on it. A lot of new content was created and was being regularly updated, some of it from yourself Mark but with extensive formatting and coding for publication. It was always the expectation to continue to update it with new content from events as they happened, Whilst adding a forum was considered and extensively developed to a POC solution but ultimately it was not taken forward as the last thing the club needed was further dilution of discussion over another forum and the significant work of moderation thrown in on top, especially when we had the new VOA UK sections open to all (unlike on the vca) hence why a miniscule part of driveviper.co.uk is a link and signpost to the USA forums and UK section.

When I decided $100+ was not value for money to me and therefore did not renew my membership I communicated to the committee I was happy to continue to contribute to the club through my time and effort on running the site and publishing new articles with the help of the members to provide photos and maybe articles along with other content as appropriate, We could have done loads of things in support of VOE including a microsite which I suggested previously. However to make it work there were two requirements which were to keep me in the loop on happenings and include me into meetings where i could provide input on how we could utilise the website for the clubs needs. Neither of these things happened and i have been cut off from all communications since. To be honest I have been mulling this over for quite some time and had hoped communication would improve, but it appears from the above quote some committee members hold little value in the site which explains why we are at where we are.

Happy to take discussions offline to see if we can reach an agreement or orderly handover.

I have done a few proms in the past .. But only for friends or work mates .. They have always been done as favours never paid ...

Mark does a great job at keeping the events updated on the USA site under UK region.

It's an open site so no need to be members .

As for the events them selves ,Some are members only . We need to do this or there would be no point paying to be a member ..

It's down to everyone involved to come along or organise and invite people along to keep thing going strong...

The bigger events like motor show NEC and even wilton house I believe now charge US as a club to display .... seems everybody is out for money ...

A good one last year was The Isle of White ..

there are a few faces on the facebook site but it is as quiet there as it is here, so your not missing much

a lot of the guys and girls that posted the majority of these 61,000 PH posts have moved on, sold up, don't have much to do with the VOA, etc
I think I could write down a dozen old names for every new name on here

I'm still here but I've not used the cars much lately so don't really have anything to add. Plus, for some reason I can never login to this site - my password manager really seems to struggle with it. I'm not a facebook fan either - its stupid layout makes it almost impossible to see anything new as it seems to randomly display information to you (and I'm not a luddite - I work in IT).

Mines not hibernating, its getting used regularly for local shows, the mileage has gone to 19k from the 12k I bought it with in just over 2 years. I've had to replace the battery this week after the old one let me down twice in the last fortnight, I've recently changed the oil and rear handbrake pads and thats about it from me.

.....and I'm still in love and so glad I managed to get my dream car!

Another few penny worth from me. I joined the Viper club 10 years ago and through it I have met many great people who I can now call friends and been on some wonderful events all over Europe. It is now with a heavy heart that due to the restrictions of the ageing process and as the oldest member I will be putting the Copperhead up for sale.
I still think this forum is the best way of keeping in touch so let us see it used more often.

Sorry to hear that Tony, I too enjoyed the events we did together - particularly the Germany trip all those years back smile

For anyone else reading, that Copperhead is a stunning car. If I didn't already have an SRT-10 that would be the one I'd want!

Sorry to hear that... don't sell it too quick - we still have a trip to Italy and Corsica next year. I've already started to look into the ferries!!

Not hibernating, getting out and about with this good weather. Just took the car to Le Mans and plan on doing some more track days over summer. Parked it out front of our showroom last weekend and made quite a stir.
