After chatting to Steve this weekend it seems the July BQ format will have to change, as he doesnt own the restaurant any more and the new owners aren't interested in holding such a meet.

So the BQ will be held on his grounds on the sat for the UK club, on sunday he's trying to borrow the neigbouring pub car park for other marques but it isnt as big so it will be a reduced event if it happens at all, as this hasnt been Ok'd by the pub landlord yet.

If Steve doesnt get permission, due to space think it may be vipers only on sunday at his house...

i'll stick a msg on general gassing/ corvettes forums 2 see if any members in the south might be up 4 getting their cars (250hp+??!!!) together with you guys (since you've made the effort to get down this far south!). if there is interest, we could snoop around for a suitable (informal/ no cost) venue.

The U.S. Base I live/work (RAF Croughton) will be having a nice size Independence Day celebration that weekend. Huge BBQ, bouncy castles and rides for the kids, live music in the afternoon and incredible firework display in the evening. Will find out if it's going to be held on the 2nd or the 3rd. A few years ago, there were some muscle cars on display and normally BAR have a formula 1 car to climb into...The folks here would literally "freak out" if a Viper gathering was held here, perhaps with out sports cars as well. They go bannanas whenever my car is uncovered...Let me know if this is an option and I can work or organizing something..Cheers

AH!! NO!! lol! Guess I'll def hav to get over to Goodwood the next weekend - a decent Tiggering weekend! RAF Croughton sounds like a top option 4 most of you tho - what an event it could be! (R Tigers allowed on USAF bases?!!)
Perhaps a new thread needs to be started to continue..

Would we be able to play on any of RAF Croughtons airfield? I'm sure the gathering would like to see / hear some Viper in action demo runs...you know the type that allow the car to express all 488 american cubic inches!

And, I have a thing about racing planes...if there's any that would like to down the runway?

The only thing high speed from this base is satellite communications...Haven't been aircraft here since WWII. Would be nice to line up some muscle cars in front of the old fighter pens...But there is a 3 mile oval that circles the sheep fields full of antenna's..I could try arranging a nice little "exibition of speed" for the folks...I'm sure the troops would appreciate it! I wonder what ever happened to the runway 7 miles from here at RAF Upper Hayford. The base has been closed for a few years, it's a ghost town now but they had a 2 1/2 mile long runway that the SR-71 would fly into...That would be a nice place to run wild...Lemme do some research....
