I'm about to get my GTS wheels refurbished before fitting 4 new tyres so the question is whether to stick with the OEM mirror chrome finish or go for powder coated black? The car is black but I'm not sure how the original wheel design will look in black. The chrome look was never entirely to my taste and I'm not sure how they'll get on trying to achieve the mirror finish but on the other hand the car is otherwise still OEM spec and wonder if I should retain the originality. What do you think?

I found it very hard to get anyone to quote to polish and lacquer the rims as apparently once polished the lacquer won't then stick to the rim meaning it will peel in very short order. I also had a rim which had been repolished and it looked a bit dull to be honest. The original finish I believe is ball burnished.

Black is a good option to resolve this but you can also chrome paint rims and I believe you can also opt for a titanium smokey chrome finish as well. The chrome paint is not as good as a polish, its not a mirror finish but certainly shines up in the sun. It also seems to be very tough. I got mine done at The Wheel Specialists in Fareham, which I believe is a chain. I would certainly use them again.

Thanks for the responses. I'm just glad to be back on the road after fixing the leaking oil cooler pipes and will let you know how I get on with the wheels shortly.

black on black is nicer than mirror wheels with black body in my eyes
