redcard

I wouldn't have posted anything if everyone was putting their names down, I'd have quietly not attended, but as it stands after 6 months there are 7 seats filled and many of the regular attendees missing. Maybe its time for a re-think before its too late to get a decent table and time slot somewhere more familiar and previously popular.

Well its only a tank of petrol? 35 quid each and you can also enjoy a bit of music if you wish too? No one has to stay the night but it's a nice option it's Norf of London so that other Viper owners could attend,
really don't see what's not to like? Let's face it hardly anyone brings a Viper to this event as weather is unpredictable so why the lack of interest?

I for one have no interest in going back to the Halfway house after last year! Cock up with menues, second sittings, it was like being at a bloody cattle market.

I see the event as a Christmas treat and would like to continue the evening after a meal. Its once a year xmas

I also think this event could be dotted around the various regions of the country in future, a Northern Venue, a midlands Venue, Western Venue etc a different venue each year rather than Same old, Same old.....

Nothing Wrong with Barrys efforts over the years but a fresh approach is Sometimes needed and might encourage more membership?

IF people have NO WISH TO ATTEND, I wish they would Man Up and let the Prez know exactly why,

Its our club "Club" mmm interesting word! rolleyes

Personally I take my hat off to Adrian, he has taken on a Job that no one wanted to do, has made great efforts to put events together, has organised a Venue nice and early with an entertainment option too.

I think its only fair that members contact him and let him know their thoughts.

I am pleased Dave that you bought this subject out into the open and thank you for your thoughts.

Now its time for other members to chime in. And of course we do have a thread on our CLUB Forum here

To be fair on last year Mark..

It was very last minute as nothing was sorted during the year and it was the best i could do at such late notice......

But still had a great turn out.....

Silence speaks volumes as they say.

I don't think its fair to expect people to speak out against an event after it has been organized. Nobody wants to be the person pouring cold water on something different that has taken time to organize. My posts above were very hard to make and there is a reason they started off short, that first post took hours and pages of text to write and all i posted was three words, after all i don't want to ps off my friends.

It takes effort to put together something and that effort is emotional investment, but as the club committee and event organizers we have to listen to what isn't being said or happening and detach from that emotional investment. If no one is putting their name down for something then its time to take a step back and wonder why and be prepared to change or abandon the event.

In the past xmas meals have always been popular and fill up quickly, but we have also had similar problems too, with arrangements having to be changed late in the booking season which have resulted in still good but compromised meals. Sign up for this meal has been open for a long time and there may be many reasons for the current situation but the main ones seem to be

1) Yeah I'm up for it sign me up
2) March->September, who wants to think about xmas.
3) Don't like the planned arrangements.
4) Wait and see who else goes.
5) Don't want to go anywhere this year.

So far we only have a few 1's a couple of confirmed 3's and whispers of other 3 and 4's, so rather than have everyone come out of the shadows and have to state they don't want to go somewhere and feel like they have to justify that position I'm going to start a wiki so everyone can just put their preference down.

Sorry but it's too far south for me and I'm a Scrooge at Xmas!!
I would prefer to put my money into an annual club meet/trip in the summer months and meet you all with your Vipers.

I guess this to include Next Years proposed UK Viper Euro event too?

I don't think many UK Members have signed up for that either!

As you brought it up, then yes. I said early on that we needed to know the minimum attendance to make it viable, if that minimum number has not been met and can not be by the time venue deposits are due then we need to take a very serious view on its future. I don't know if min attendance levels were established as for personal reasons as i was unable to attend the latter meetings, I have also not seen any further communications on attendance numbers, but the event CAN NOT go ahead at a loss or using all of this years and next's club funds as it has the potential for substantial debt to be established . But this is perhaps a better conversation to have offline.
