We will be making some announcements in a general news release later this weekend, which deals specifically with the event and improvements/changes we hope to implement

1. We have had a few new teams come forward, and we will be reviewing team places and numbers for some teams, while trying our best to give additional
places where possible to some existing teams.

2. Entry forms will be available from late Feb. until 3rd July closing date. We will as usual change teams/reserves at a push until 13th-14th July, but only for reserves forms already with us at that date.

3. Qualifying criteria- teams are free to pick and choose their own of course, but we have some basic minimum requirements to consider- fwd cars must be proven sub14s 1/4m or better, rwd sub 13s ideally, and 4wd 12.5s or quicker. This is only a rough guide, but we do insist where possible that genuine proven cars are selected throughout. We will be checking all cars documents this year before sign on, so V5, MOT and tax must be available forinspection, cars with non road (competition logbooks) are not allowed. Please contact us with any queries, and of course we will have room for additional cars not representing any particular club.

4. event format- this will remain the same for all events/points scoring etc, but we will be implementing a maximum of 5 timed runs per car on the
handling course, plus one sighting lap only at the start of the day. This is in response to requests to make it fair to all and ensure all clubs get an
equal crack on the handling circuit. Only a few people actually managed more than 5 timed runs per person last year, but some competitors did get 9 or 10
runs in somehow!

5. Our website www.totb.co.uk will be updated weekly from March with event news and entry lists, so please encourage any of your team members who would like
some publicity to send us news/pics of their car
development.

6. test day- 3rd July Elvington is a rwyb 1/4m and top speed test day as well as the closing date for entry forms, and we would encourage people to
come along to test and set up if they wish.

Regards
Chris

I know that there's no minimum power requirement to enter a Viper but what sort of bhp would be required to be competitive in the RWD class? In other words, what sort of level of modifications would be required in a Viper to be competitive. I'm currently living in the US but will return to UK later in the year. I'm looking into buying a Viper to take back with me and would consider buying one with considerable modifications that might be entered into TOTB 5 (if such an event takes place).

Its not all about power if you want to be competive in all 3 discipines, it needs to handle to around the handling circuit as well. Last years RWD winner ran over 200mph down the 1.2 mile straight from the standing start and around 10 secs (guessing without looking) for the quarter, a tricked up supra on dodgy looking tyres.

Viper wise this year who knows... but at least 1000bhp at the wheels if you wanted to compete with 'Skunk'

Remember that....Hoosier race tyres or something? I remember seeing the car reverse on full lock, and the side walls crumpling!

We are still having site meetings and will forward some event news shortly. Entry forms will go online on 1st march. as far as the event goes, we will
be implementing some changes to the pitlane, to make it bigger and better, more marshalls etc. additionally we will hopefully have grandstand seating
on the startline this year, along with an improved pa, toilets being cleaned/serviced etc etc. We may be able to offer club camping to the clubs taking part for saturday night along with an improved trade area. finally we will run this years event as per last years prices, and entry fees for spectators etc remain unchanged.

Redline Ten of The Best IV -Announcement - General Release

It's our pleasure once again to invite you all to Redline Ten of the Best IV. The event takes place at Elvington Airfield on Sunday 31st July 2005.
Competitor Entry forms are now available to download via our website: www.totb.co.uk
Spectator tickets are now on sale in our online shop. Event info, rules and regulations, trade information applications and the like are now available to browse online.

Response has already been fantastic from clubs and groups wishing to compete this year and we are pleased to confirm entries from the following Teams/clubs:

The 200+ Club, GTR Register, Team Subaru, Mitsubishi Lancer Register, Vipers, GTO UK, 200SXOC, Skyline Owners Club, Hondas UK, UK Supras, GTIR-OC,
RS Cosworth, RS Turbo, Performance Rover Group, FDUK, CCC UK. Also confirmed so far are the following high powered cars; Calder Racing Supra, Fensport Corrolla/Celicas, Keith Cowie's R32, Martin Hadland's new Cosworth, Joel English 900+bhp Viper and a quad turbo V12 Skyline! In total 125 cars will compete to prove who has the best all-round road car in the UK.

We still have limited space available for suitable cars that are not part of an existing club/group/team. Performance car Tuners can also apply to compete, either as part of one of the existing Team entries or as individuals, subject to approval and sufficient space.

Spectator ticket prices are the same as before, and are available in advance at just £15 per person from our website, or alternatively can be purchased
on the gate on the day from 9am onwards at £20 per adult. There are no limits on spectator numbers. All ticket purchases can be made via www.totb.co.uk for online orders. Our phoneline number is also on the
website for credit card ordering. Clubs and groups can also obtain further discount on entry tickets if purchased in bulk, contact us for details.

This year we are pleased to announce that The Organisation will be looking after the Trade display and club areas on our behalf. Additionally they will
be organising on-site camping for the clubs/groups and competitors in a similar vein to J.A.E.
Clubs and groups who wish to have their own dedicated camping/display area on site can now apply for spaces. For such enquiries contact:
claire.williams@the-organisation.org
Other planned improvements to the event overall include raised grandstands, fully serviced toilets, improved p.a and displays, a new viewing area within
the handling arena, and a much improved and enlarged trade display among other changes.

The event format remains the same other than a slight tweak to the handling event, where all competitors will be limited to a maximum of 5 timed runs,
to ensure fairness for all competitors. The Overall Redline TOTB4 Champion Award will still be based on total points scored from all 3 events overall
(1/4m, handling and Top speed) plus any bonus points gained from the shootout finals. The team trophy is also certain to be highly contested this year.

The Closing date for all competitor entries is 3rd July 2005. There will be a further short period for any last minute team changes or for reserves to
take up any places that become available. Please note no refunds will be made after 3rd July. No changes will be made to any team sheets after 14th July 2005 when the entry lists become final.

Any Traders interested in a display area or Event sponsorship should contact The Organisation:
claire.williams@the-organisation.org

All event/team or individual Competitor entry enquiries to
enquiries@trackdayplus.com

Further news and event updates will be sent out monthly to all participating groups, and will be listed on the www.totb.co.uk website.
Bye for now
The TOTB team

dyno numbers mean nothing.

Its the black dyno that matters. If it cant perform on the road/strip, then dyno numbers are just pub talk.

Personally I'd say, 7-800hp (or bit less), to keep a balance between handling and all out power. Or if you want to beat all the drag-orientated cars, then more power (obviously) - ie 1000... but can't win overall like that.

Unless the car is >10 years old of course! And I would defy the SVA testers to tell me whether headers/ rockers etc were standard or not. Exhausts and intakes I can accept!

How do so many Skylines/Supras and Subarus etc get into this country then ?? there are quite a few drag specials, virtually bought straight from Japan, and onto our roads ??

No way have they been converted back to std for SVA testing ??

There have been a few entered at TOTB, so naturally they should be road legal ??

Finding an unmodified Skyline to import from Japan is hard to do. I know friends who have imported high horsepower Skylines but I think they were older R32s i.e. >10 years old. I know someone who has an imported R34 (i.e. 1999 or later) with approx 900bhp but I think most of the modifications were done after it was in the UK.
