After years of dreaming of owning an SRT10 convertible, I finally decided to be sensible and get a nice family hatchback instead.
Picked it up today, didn't want to say anything earlier until I was sure the deal was for real. No doubt lots of advice will be needed soon! Done 100 miles today and loving it so far!

I see from a previous thread you are going to Tatton Park in July? Hopefully I will be able to make it too - would be good to see 2 of the fastest coloured cars together!

Would be nice to get you on the VOA! We need more members up norf. Yea a bunch of us are heading to Tatton on the saturday. Send your application in by going to the stars and stripes website and downloading their form. It goes without saying, anything you need help or advice with, just shout - there are many of use here in the UK including our own Viper Tech always listening and ready to help. No I didn't import it, although I was considering a Euro import rather than US for a while. I have followed this car over the last 2 years and have pretty much gleaned its complete history. California to Jersey in 2009, then to Dublin in 2013, then it appeared at the dealer near(ish) me in Yorkshire in January.

Yes it has (and a standard centre console)! I've been following this forum for a couple of years, so I know all about THAT car, although to be fair - it was THAT particular car that re-ignited my passion and made my mind up about which Viper I wanted.It's one of 2 (as far as I know) first editions in the UK, and the other is not for sale (I checked before I bought mine). It has 12000 miles, and a Corsa exhaust which I think I may change to original as its too loud on start up for my delicate ears ( and several neighbours

Many questions to follow, and here's a few to start with. I would like to find out why the engine management light is on. I'm thinking something to do with the exhaust sensors so I'll wait until I've changed it before finding out the code. I'll have a good play at the weekend, as I haven't sussed out what all the switches knobs and buttons do yet!
Also a pool of water appears on the garage floor somewhere near the bulkhead - I'm guessing this is just aircon related, so I'll try not to use it and see if thats the issue.
Should the rear hatch 'pop up' using the keyfob, like my Mustangs trunk lid? It certainly unlocks but I'm wondering if the gas struts are a bit weak.
Idle seems a bit 'lumpy' when sat at junctions, the whole car shakes - is this normal, or exhaust related?
I did another 40 miles tonight just for fun, it handles much better than I imagined it would, and even the gearbox seems good with the standard shifter.

if you don't have a code reader you can get the code by turning the ignition on and off three times and they are displayed on the dash lcd. It could be something as simple as the gas cap not being tight!
I found that one out pretty quick, The IVA requires the gas cap be tethered to the vehicle, to comply i ran a length of cable from the cap to one of the screws in the filler. It was all very neat at tidy and passed the test, trouble was it was enough to disturb the cap while driving and the overly sensitive California emission systems threw a code. It no longer has the neat cable and i have to rely on not not being stooopid and leaving the the gas cap behind when i fill up! never seen the MIL on since.
The trunk button on my fobs does nothing, but i assumed that was due to the extra weight of the wing on an ACR, I think Neil (Viper) is the only person with gen 3 coupe experience here.
Lumpy idle is viper, but hard to say if yours is too lumpy, My gen 2 shakes around properly at idle, the Gen 4 not so much, but its no Mercedes, that's part of the viper experience, all that HP with an uneven firing V10.
Glad its the jersey one, I remember when he was putting it through IVA/SVA and having real problems with the headlights

Idle in the gen ii it's very shake. At leat in mine, I did a search on viper alley and found many gen I and ii have the "NGR" neutral gear rattle. fully synthetic oil seems to reduce it. Not quite sure what it's like in gen iii. However, it's normal.
Don't bother with the $$$$ syntorque trans fluid, stick with the ATF+4 and use the money saved to buy a corsa exhaust, bellanger headers and race cats or straight through, fixes NGR the right way. After a few months though you wont be able to hear your drums or much else in your left ear for that matter! ViperDave said:

Thanks again, the error code is P0158 (2/2 O2 Sensor Shorted to Voltage)edit:- tried it again to make sure and it came up with P0138 (O2 Sensor 1/2 Circuit Voltage High)
I'll get it sorted when I change the exhaust back to standard

you'll also need a towing eye bracket ASAP, incase of a breakdown, not standard on US vipers for some unknown reason
I went with the woodhouse version which screws on/off onto a factory bolt if needed in seconds
practically impossible to get one on a low loader without damaging the expensive front fascia without one
battery tender to, though you've probably got one already, a new battery will only last 2-3weeks with the alarm on
