N.Z NEWS...."Boy Racer Drag Trains,get bad press"

Just thought you might be interested in some of the goings on here in N.Z.Drag Trains have become very big in the last year and up to 500 cars can be seen snaking through Dunedin City on a Fri/Sat night.The idea is that car nuts can meet/chat and cruise with a lead car deciding on the route and the rest following,but speeds are normally kept legal until out of town where 1/4 mile "fast@furious" style events take place well away from houses/people and police.The lead car is nominated from whoever turns up on the night and looks the coolest.A few days ago we were flagged down in the Venom and asked to turn up on friday night to "lead" the masses through the streets and out to town so when we go I hope to capture some of the "spirit" of the event and get Neil to post some pics.We have Venom almost back to full "replica GTS/R" spec and it,s causing a MAJOR stir,the Police seem to be taking much interst in it and want it,s scalp so driving can be rather stressful.The "drag trains" are tagged by many unmarked police cars(up to 8-10!!) with old vans fitted with speed radar positioned in various places to catch you out.(In N.Z Police use all types of hidden radar traps and never stand on the side of the road in a bright jacket holding a radar gun,it no holds barred here!and anything and every thing is tried in a effort to catch you speeding).I,ll report back after Friday with some news of what happened!But before i go just check out the new "BOY RACER legislation" put into force recently where you will be fined for...."unnecessary exhibition of speed or acceleration"...and this one just crackes me up...."sustained loss of traction"

I'd have been banned for life by now!Well it was so mad!and the Viper had so many people around it that i never took any pictures!Oops..Sorry about that!.What i can tell you is that T.V crews from the press and Police turned up. Just on the short 3/5 mile drive to the meeting point Venom was tagged by 3 different cops cars trying to catch us speedingWe made sure we keep to the limits into town and just enjoyed winding up the cops with our"legal" speeds!About 200+ cars turned up at midnight (down on the 500+ the week before) and the sight of us all crusing through the empty city at night and out into the country was unreal!Viper made many many friends with everyone trying to cruise with us!Now the word is out about Venom many many more cars should show up next friday night,so I,ll post some pics next week.Lovin it!
