Looking a the pics, it seems like a nice car, not sure why it has fibreglass side sills, original ones were metal? I can tell you from the pics that the tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 1s, They stopped making those years ago and then went to Michelin Pilot Sport 2s, these are now being fazed out and another Michelin super Sport tyre is being made in various sizes Not sure its available in 17 inch yet?
The tyres are a Summer tyre only, If you intend to push the car at the odd track day I would budget for new rubber. Tyres are the most expensive part of Viper ownership (if you use the car).
Just looked on the michelin website (uk) and it seems tyres are not currently available in 17"
The size of the fronts should be 275/40 ZR 17
and the Rears should be 335/35 ZR 17
Tire Rack in the USA has the tires listed here http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.js...
The tyres may have a lot of tread on them but its about Heat cycles, Not tread depth. These cars have a hell of a lot of torque, on a damp road early morning its easy to get into trouble with old tyres
Just something to be thoughtful with if you are thinking of buying That being said I am currently running old Pilot Sport 1s on my car but its about knowing their limitations

Here is a link to the International Viper Regestry
This gives you a break down of the Chassis Vin number and where to find Engine Nos etc.
http://www.theviperregistry.org/vin.php
This next one is the Build sticker (found on the end of the drivers door)
http://www.theviperregistry.org/mdh.php
General Rule.....Dated numberplates on American cars mean bugger all if its an import. The true date of the car is found using the Vin Number
I belive Head Gaskets were suspect on early cars, so ask owner if any engine work has been done.
On Gen 1 Vipers they had two throttle cables, on the Gen 2 cars they changed it to a single cable
Looking at the engine bay in the pics, the car has fitted smooth tubes for the throttle bodys, this is good, ask the owner what the filters are in the Air box, K&N are the way to go
Mate of mine used to have a Gen 1 RT/10 1994, loved it, Just take your time to get used to the gear shifting, After selecting 1st and 2nd gear, make sure you turn your right hand away from you and push the shifter to the right, If your in 3rd gear and pull the shifter down to select 4th its easy to hit 2nd! (if you don't palm the shifter away
Remember these cars were supposed to be a modern day (1994) throw back to the old AC Cobra, a no thrills interior and a bloody big engine
Engine will have an 8 ltr oil pan, normally running Mobil 1 10-30
Link to fluids and info here

Don't suppose there are any meets north of the Watford gap .I have seen a viper or two at tatton park classic and sports car show .A great weekend that one .And they do an American car show weekend too ,in july I think .The sports one is in may .Full camping facilities too .Absolutely thousands attend every year .
We used to do the Supercar meet at Gaydon, but The dynamics of that show have changed now.
Im up for most things, Car has been on display at the NEC Autosport show Its worth checking the Events meetings Travel section of Pistonheads to see what's on Also check the regional sections. Sunday service runs, PH sometimes go to visit Porsche at Silverstone.
If I'm honest, trouble is not everyone is interested in meeting up regularly, Luton Lunch happens once a year then you don't see anyone else until either the Christmas bash or the Following Luton Lunch a year later
The old President used to find it very frustrating trying to get people to meet up. Many people don't tell you what they are up to until after the event!
Some people like to do more track day oriented stuff rather than show and shine. I like all of it, but balancing the families needs and attending car meets can be tricky.
Took the Viper up to Suffolk yesterday and back again this morning Great driving roads. And Adrian now has a working clutch and Gearbox
Im happy to attend any shows and American Car meets I have registered us for the NEC Classic car show Next year, Sadly we are too late for this years show.

Very informative mate .Yes I remember going to supercar sunday years ago myself .Great day that was .Is that event still in august ? Sounds like getting viper owners together is hard work .Shame that. A few vipers at tatton park certainly livens the place up .I hope to make an appearance there next year .
