Venom 500 can,t be used on N.Z road, transport people have said unless it has a cert of compliance then no go.This is my worst nightmare.....Damiler Chrysler "don,t do statements of compliance, not company policy".Many of you know the efforts made to get this before and since we left of N.Z.Nothing much i can say except were really pi**ed Off about this.....JUST GUTTED......anyone who can help? This has made me feel real Can,t believe this is happening, and it all because are car is a Chrysler Viper....if it were a Dodge Viper it would have the right stickers(one put on it are not enough to satisfy N.Z transport)

You would have thought that the manufacturer would assist in problems like this, i am sorry to hear about this problem, there must be a way around it.

The problem that the manufacturer has is that if they were to make a statement they could well leave them self open to a million dollar law suit if say Venom had an accident and the car was at fault.

Suits just love statements from manufacturers about compliance.

Tom I will contact the factory again and chase them but trying to find someone that will put his neck and possibly his job on the line is not easy.

My contact has tried most avenues but he still calls me weekly promising a solution.

According to:
www.ltsa.govt.nz/importing/mia-list.html
"Statements of Compliance are not available for Chrysler, Jeep, Plymouth and Dodge" but there are plenty examples of each in the country ? ?

Thanks for your concern! Thanks again Paul, wondering if it was even possible for the factory to just print me off the Dodge Stickers instead (a 1997 Dodge in N.Z was certified)and i can stick them on it if all else fails?I have tried a similar attempt but it seems they must have been from a different year model.I think if Chrysler supplied me with these if might get over the problem (Red Tape!)As long as a sticker says its ok,they would be happy!Maybe you could run it past them Paul to see if a set of 1997 Dodge Compliance stickers couild be obtained (this would be just a good as a letter or statement). Thanks again all....TOM

Tom, sorry to hear about all your hassle. It just might be worthwhile to get in touch with Dan Cragin in DC Performance in LA. He has a lot of contacts with the factory and the personnel there. Good luck.

Will here today if LVTA think my "stickers" are O.K.If not I,m in sh*t street.I don,t want to track the car but will work out if its better to either sell the car to someone 4 track days only or dismantled it 4 spares but I,m not sure how much it would be worth as spares against being sold as a track car?Once i know the outcome from the transport people then i can decide my next move. One thing is for sure ,i can,t justify it as a 1/1 model in my Viper collection! Thanks again 4 everyones imput,I,ll keep you all posted.

To break Venom for spares would be the crime of the 21st century ......dont even think about it. And Venom is too perfect to ba a track only car. I'm sure someone in the UK would be glad to give him a good home.

Shipping back 2 U.K not really an option, hence the may break (a few Vipers in Auz).Still waiting to here if the Viper is ok!Been told another bod from LTSA is coming down to check the car,so fingers crossed. Also found out that the Viper is worth a lot more than first thought.Told to insure for approx £150/180,000 NZ dollors (£50-55,000)!!!!!!Thats the cost of a nice house here! Will post the news in next 24 hours.
