Return of the Skunk

After a long time in the building, a lot of travelling, a recession, a lot of head scratching, and a lot of blood sweat and tears, the Skunk is back and the first shake down runs were at Santa Pod last Friday. Chris and I managed to squeeze through the MOT on Thursday (thanks Baz ), so the first time the car has actually been opened up a bit was at the Pod. We only had 7 year old drag radials to run, and did not intend to run anywhere near the cars capability, but even so I think we were pleasantly surprised at the result, just driving up to the line, no burnouts at all, and shifting below the best shift points we still crossed the line at 151mph, and everything felt strong and stable.
An excellent weekend was had, one of those great get togethers where the days just seem to work well, thanks to Chris, Baz, Neil, Colin, Dave, and Kevin. Also good to see Michael there with his Subaru Legacy, a project which has taken about as long as the Skunk !
Now time to go over the weekend, see what worked and what didnt and start fine tuning on it all. Love it

Way to much wheel spin on this setting, but with no burnout, the tyres were completely cold, still it was a low 10 second run at 148 !

Good luck at TOTB this weekend, I know that's what you had the Skunk built for to win. It really is a tuner playground at that event now, gone are the days when a bunch of us could rumble along in modified Vipers and score points, those were the days with 4 and 5 car team entry of Vipers.
At least their timing lights will be safe now with all Skunks MoTec management. Show them what Vipers are made of! Go Viper!

That is such a shame, they called me and said Joel had entered and were trying to get me to come along for competition (LOL!!) it clashes with other events for me, Silverstone Classic, MOPAR nats. I've also done what I wanted to achieve with my GTS, its back to daily run around duties now and tow car! Such a shame no Vipers running again at the event, they were always a crowd favourite, Hamish needs tuning help and wont be their either
LOL, must be trying to drum up entry's, and competition, last year I was thinking of entering a non-Viper and they were encouraging me as Joel had entered but not with a Viper, LOL, I'm really not as competitive as that! I think our 2 GTS's were the first ever street Vipers to go head to head in UK, I'm guessing people fondly remember that, but I also learnt apparently it is terrible for a lady driver to be faster than a man
