Are there any more details on this event yet?

Just been looking at www.speedferries.com and note that if you book your ticket in October, you get a SuperTicket. Basically, any crossing next year is £50 return and for a £10 fee, this is fully amendable to any other crossing that is available. Worth booking one now then amend it when we have the date? Typically the Tunnel is £199 and not amendable, so £60 is a bargain

Sure - book 2 or 3 cheap now (£50) and amend them next year when you know the exact dates you want to go! £10 extra also buys you 1st class - worth it for the easier parking spot
