I was interested to see the 77,000 pound price tag on the UK SRT-10.

I paid 78,000 US dollars for my 2004 SRT-10. On Top Gear, I noticed that the Corvette sells for 40,000 pounds, whereas in the US, it sells for around 45,000 dollars. It seems like your numbers are similar, but you are paying in pounds, not dollars. I'm curious, are all cars in the UK more expensive than in the US, or just American sports cars?

What would be the UK price for a new Porsche 911, a Ferrari 360 or a Gallardo?

What would you folks pay for a more normal car, like a Ford Focus, or one of the new Mini Coopers?

I'm just wondering why GM and Chrysler charge so much for their sports cars in the UK.

In Germany the price tag for the SRT-10 is 130000 US$ - which is 105000 Euro!

A Gallardo is 145000-150000 Euro.

Its not just cars everything is more expensive, clothes,food,petrol... it would cost you $100 to fill your tank here !!!

All cars are more expensive in the UK than the US not just sports cars, a new mini cooper is around £18K, an elise £27K, focus about £13K upwards, ferrari I'd guess around £140K, top spec AM with a few extras £170K. Thats why its so cheap for us when we visit, yet Americans say how expensive the UK is. Rip-off Britain....

Chrylser UK we've heard is run as separate company to the Chrysler USA, maybe that's why they can charge whatever they can get away with, but they are only in line with other motor companies.

Selling the SRT at 77 is probably in line with similar performance wise vehicles, if they weren't so greedy maybe they would sell a lot more than 15, but there is a limited market for vipers not everyone wants left hand drive which is the major turn-off, we here at meets all the time if only there right hand drive was available... (won't go into the Aus conversion)

I personally think they will struggle to sell the 15 cars. When the 97 GTS's originally came over they hung around in dealerships for ages before they eventually sold (£68K) Chrysler have sold 60 new vipers from their UK dealerships since 1993.

Just to be pedantic, your prices (Neil) are a little on the high side

Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Coupe: £56,450
Ferrari 360M: £103,275
Lamborghini Gallardo: £117,000
Ford Focus: £11,145
Mini Cooper: £12,100
All list price for basic model

Still no reason why our prices should be higher that the US. It really annoys me particulalry with Jap cars as they are right hand drive by default and have to be converted for the US market and still cheaper. Normally that's cited as the excuse here, but even that isn't applicable for the US sports cars that aren't converted.

Another example of rip-off Britain
