Changed all my springs today with that great tool...but
found 4 shattered, car drove fine before, but how???

Yup, all bits accounted for, looking at one in paticular, the broken edges are
completely smooth, like driftwood, probably been broken years

Not good for the bearings. Hopefully you swapped the oil filter regularly.
What springs did you replace them with? Duals?

Lucky you didn't drop a valve!?

Id suggest your babying the car and using the nice low rpm torque presented more serious issues

The springs were doubles, thats why no valves dropped, changed the oil and filter 400mls ago, gonna change again just to be safe
