Hi all
just looking at some options of possible events this year , and was wondering if anyone went to any of Chris Evans Carfest shows last year ????
they were heavily promoted on his show and apparently were a great success , but being so far down where i am , i have yet to find anyone that went to them !!!!!!

Also i dont know if is something the Club could look at attending/displaying if the shows were any good ????

cheers

I went to the South event both Saturday and Sunday.

Both days I was there with the sporting bears although we had bought tickets as well so I was there as a display car but we were also lucky enough to get some 'pit passes' on Sunday.

I think all the tickets sold out again quickly this year, certainly South is a sell out again so unless you have tickets already might be hard to get to. There were some car clubs there last year, I think Ferrari certainly and some others but they didn't really stand out to me as an attraction. The auction was fun and seemed to be a primary day time attraction. The run up the 'hill' was pretty unexciting tbh. It was a very short and narrow tarmac path with little sign of any actual hill. Plus there were hay chicanes which prevented any actual turn of speed. There were some very nice cars though and the bands I am told were good - not to my taste but quite popularist.

By far the most annoying thing was most of the food was on one side of the event which meant crossing the track which was only open for 10 minutes every hour or so. We were trying to get food when it suddenly poured with rain so we couldn't get back to the other side to get coats so we got utterly soaked.

The best thing was probably the access to the cars, when they were parked up you could easily move about them.

We decided we wouldn't pay to go again but have been invited back by the bears so might be there for a day maybe.

Is it worth a club stand - probably not, its not as big as the Silverstone Classic for example with no hard standing and no real firm attraction.

As a side note I was also at the first FOS which I think this event is trying to replicate to some extent and I do feel like CarFest had some of the charm of the FOS before it became the financial machine it is now. Because its not as focussed on the cars and drivers its not the same thing though but is certainly worth a look if you like cars and music (and food).
