VOI pics, just landed
Discussion
after the long haul and checking in at the hotel, we all signed in and registered for VOI and received a heavy bag of VOI goodies, T-shirt, cap, poster, magwiers polish, cali duster, etc. Then nipped to the bar for some grub and a drink a late'ish night with the time difference (5 Hours) Early start in the morning for a Skip Barber track explanation/session then onto to watch the hand over of the 49 yellow SRT's.
From there everyone headed out to a stadium to prepare for a cruise through Dallas which was rather cool, police escort, traffic lights on red, yellow SRT's up front with the rest following I got a ride with Steve a guy from Michigan in his 2000 miler 97 red GTS, it brought the city to a stand still must of been 300+ vipers in a line ! That night at the meal there was a comedian and then Dodge launched the new 'concept' coupe, which is great that the prospective owners get the first viewing and not the press, we had a reserved table right up front by all the Dodge excutives, afterwards vendor shopping.
Next day a technical session, then everyone was split into two groups, some at the track the Texas Speedway and the others including the UK region on a scenic road rally through Texas stopping off en-route for lunch, it wasnt that scenic...
The following day everyone swapped so it was our turn at the track, an early 5am start yawn to drag ourselves upto the speedway for a panoramic photo just after sunrise. Here the group was split again, which put me with Spud outside the track, driving first the rams, crossfire, magnums, etc through cones and a ABS braking zone then onto a viper handling autocross, where there was a couple of SRT's for us to paste. After lunch we moved inside the speedway onto a SRT turbo'd neons autocross and got to drive the banked speedway in SRT vipers. More food and beer on the night, we were all shipped out on coaches into Dallas to a rodeo themed place.
That takes us to sunday, were we had a free day at the track again to drive whatever you wanted, but it was busy we got there late and didnt drive much
Monday and tuesday morning at the Speedway to watch Viper Days, a series which travels around 12 USA tracks were only vipers compete, quite cool to see the CC's running, although the were beaten by a GTSR
In general I had a great time, the schedule was very busy no hanging around, although there was a couple of dull moments for me, we could have done with more viper track time and the food wasnt as fantastic as I expected.. but the drinks was free Nad got a ride in the drifting compe coupe with the swedish driver, sat in a brand new CC and worked on C6 GTSR at viperdays so she was very happy, Steve wasnt to be seen he enjoyed himself taking advantage of the bar, me and Spud had a great laff with the Scottish/german couple Everyone we talked seemed to have about 3 vipers, one guy in viperdays had 7 with 3 at the track including a couple of CC's and a GTSR, a guy behind me on the scenic rally had brought 2 of the yellow VCA vipers, and also had a FE and RT at home.. so best get saving
some of the goodies that were handed out
