Another possibly dull question (but its allowed in the 1st month of ownership of my GTS)....how do I tell whether I have smooth tubes already put in, from a superficial visual inspection.

cheers woolfie

smooth tubes are silicon based, glossy rubbery look usually red in a viper but also come in other colours like blue and have no ribs in them.

OE tubes are dull and black rubber, which have ribs in them for some unknown reason

can send you pic if your still unsure

You have two tubes running from the air box to the throttle bodies. Stock ones are corrugated. If they are smooth you already have them

I’ll see if I can find a pic.

Edited to add

doh too slow typing to beat Neil. (At least the blue and white cars are faster)

if you need to change for smooth tubes (Baz can help here, he has contacts) get the K&N air filters as well (off Joel) for improved sound and flow espicially if you modify your exhaust.

yes, the blue and white are faster than red...

.... but Steel Grey dont make me laugh so they are in a totally different speed league, way above the blues!! they are somewhere near the space shuttle
20 seconds after take off

But isn’t the space shuttle grounded at the moment and restricted to the 2km/h of its crawler transport

Don’t know how good the article is as it looks like it’s about a gen 1.

excellent..looks like i've inherited the mod..one less to do. My ones are are smooth in comparison to the last picture.

Apologies for the delay in replying...i was slowly burning the meat on the bbq..now 7 bottles of becks, 3 sausages, 1 burger, i red pepper, some couscous, 2 baked spuds later, i feel ready for another week of corporate bollox. But will have thursday off to to do the custom jobbie on the rear exhaust assembly..be interesting to see what it turns out like: bye bye rear silencers..RIP.

The ribbed tubes would allow for engine movement, between the engine and the fixed air filter lids. They would also allow the filters to be changed easier.
