I bet you wont miss that noise of nuts and bolts shaken in a tin can when you used to start the cerb.

We had a Speed Six before getting our GTS and it was by far the most poorly built car weve ever owned,Yes it was quite fast (not as fast or tractable as GTS in the wet, despite what you read in Viper write ups)but needed so much constant work to keep it running correctly and service/parts costs very high.We love our Viper so much we took it with us to N.Z and i know your love the Viper so much more, and enjoy being able to drive it hard but still have near 100% reliability. The only area where our Cerbera exceeded the Viper was the interior, they are rather spartan but then again bits of Cerbera trim kept coming unstuck or dropped off, plus we didn,t like all the buttons on the steering wheel spokes as unless you had large hands made holding the steering wheel a bit wearing over a long distance. The Viper does have a TRUCK engine....but it was breathed on by Lamborgini and only needs oil/filter on its yearly service and spark plugs every 5 years!!!!.As for those very expensive tappets and ignition leads that need to be adjusted/replaced every 12 months at a very high cost....well the Vipers single cam and push rod set up means no adjustments required. Most Vipers from 1996/99 have bottomed out on price so you will also find that you can re sell it for what you bought it for if you ever get fed up with the 500bhp monster with superstar looks !!!.But most Viper owners seem to keep hold of there cars as it is very hard to find anything with the power/looks/reliability/running cost and you may even find that after quite a few years of ownership it still gets my heart pumping every time i drive it.Buy a Viper....and I promise your never look back !(TVR,S suck ! )

But you still have the car, right? Or does he have the car AND stopped the cheque? Either way what a bummer! Hope you find another buyer pronto

You can sue him on the cheque - the cheque rule - essentially this means the facts are irrelevant and once he gives you the cheque, it's as good as money and he has to pay and the car and insurance problem are his. The only fact relevant is that he gave you a cheque, that's the beauty of it.

If you sued him in the civil court, it's pretty much automatic judgement in your favour. He would have to counter-sue for some reason and he doesn't seem to have one.

he's whats commonly known as an arsehole.I think he's using the insurance thing as an excuse. There is know way he was about to part with big money without checking the insurance first and if he really wanted the TVR to get over this he could probably do it as a named driver on his parent's policy.

I feel sorry for you, i had the same problem when i sold my Esprit Turbo a few years ago, and that was to a dealer who bounced the cheque!

On the TVR side of things, of which i have owned 7, you will be a lot better off buying American, could be worse you might have had a Tuscan to dispose of, at least a Cerb has a fairly decent engine.

My Corvette is off this week, and i look forward to the arrival of my Viper, my brother nismobrown is still looking without much success.

Take my advice do not buy TVR again, i did, and regretted it every time, and i am very patient.

By the way what spec Viper are you going to buy?
