exhausts aaaaaaaagh
Discussion
OK - confused now, thought i had worked out a "best combination"..but then a bit more research, makes me nervous about getting this wrong.
I am looking for a good noise, recognising that the V10 is unique. So then I start reading as the americans put it just "delete the mufflers" and for a very small outlay then the noise of the exhaust will inmprove.
Is this a valid route for a '97 GTS and would i have any knock on effects (ie negative impact).
Apologies for any naievety in these questions; they do seem to get the US viper guys quite animated when discusssing this type of topic.
Bottom line is - if I can get an improved sound in the short term and save up my squiddies for noise + power later on, this might be a good thing...or not?
aaaaaaaagh woolfie

Woolfie.
Have done this with mine - removed the 2 rear "mufflers" and put in a couple of sections of straight through pipe but kept the 2 mufflers that hide behind the sills. Your correct that it gives an good increase in sound without making your ears bleed while bombing up the motorway.A Brucie bonus is it removes a bit of weight and if you've removed the restrictor from the airbox - fitted a couple of K+Ns you should gain a few HP. Long term though you cant beat a proper sports replacement.

hopefully this works out: but will help me in the short term to get a better note. I have booked in with a specialist custom exhaust fabricator..to do the rear pipes & removing the existing rear mufflers. Will disuss with them the sort of noise I am after. Will post/email results in 2 weeks time.
(note to me..Must remember to tell the insurance co..)
This then buys me time to do the whole thing (headers, hi-flow cats and cat-back) once the necessary funds are released.
