Discussion
I'm stockpiling for my winter service schedule and being cautious like to buy Mopar where I can. I've managed to obtain 2 oil filters which are now hugely expensive (£17 each!) but all the fluids are now Petronas or 'other' thanks to Fiat. So all the oils, coolants etc no longer appear or are available in the Dodge system.
So, first problem this year. Green coolant - Its not available so question is, is it interchangeable with the 2 year Blue coolant available from Halfords/ECP?
Perhaps an additional area might be setup on the service wiki to add this data and good sources?

(P.S. Thanks Baz again for all your help with this same problem last year

OK, sounds good, Halfords also have Comma G48 which I suspect is what we are talking about here. As far as I can tell there are 3 types of anti freeze and we just need to stick to the non OAT or HOAT types which are typically the long life ones. Ours seems to need to be silicate based (or I could be talking rubbish as is fairly normal!)
The old 3year green coolant has served my GTS well for his first 10 years, but when you get the chance its best to change over to the Gen3 MOPAR 5 year coolant, as it works by anticorrosion properties, where as the 3 year green stuff just kind of coats everything to protect it, which is not so good. However, its really important to flush all the old green out, the 2 don't mix. To do this you will need to remove the coolant plugs from the block as well to drain. Once done and changed over to HOAT / 5year coolant, you won't look back. Also remember to use distilled water to mix 50 / 50 with coolant (you can buy it pre-mix but its more costly).
If you ever can't get it(!) and need a top up, the only decent quality one that states / will supposedly mix with either is "Prestone" and is endorsed by RR
Re the oil filters, if you track, I'd use the VCC $10 on Gen2 or Gen3, as it has a better relief valve to protect against it going into harmonics with the engine oil valve!

Agreeing with the above, forget about the older 3 year anti freezs and go with the later organic acid antifreezes. However I wouldnt hesitate to use some of the commonly available anti freeze brands such as CarPlan premium red antifreeze (available from many leading car parts stores such as "Motorstore"!) It has a 5 year life and complies with all the anti corrosion standards such as VW GL12. Incidentally it says on the bottle that it is compatible with traditional silicate antifreezes.
I know we're talking about different engines here, but the era is the same. I still run the LT5 on the green/blue stuff. There has been cases in the US where people switched to the new 5 year stuff and not long after started getting gasket failure. You know what some of these US forums are like though so it could be the antifreeze or may not be the antifreeze. Who knows. I change it every couple of years any way so stick with the old stuff. Just in case.

I'm working on the same principal, I suspect a lot of the Internet problems are dexcool related rather than red/green, Switching may or may not be an issue but is it really worth the risk to find out for yourself. I just change it every two years with green and don't have to worry if my gaskets are dissolving or the mixture is forming a jelly like substance etc.I go to great lengths to get dexcool for the vette and formally the camaro so getting hold of the green stuff seems easy and cheap in comparison.

I've managed to locate some Mopar stuff, small stockpile now created...
Baz, fancy adding some more of the Gen 3 updated filters (the ones which fit gen 2&3 with Viper written on them) to that order - I want to do more stockpiling! I think 6 should do it :-)
Thanks for all the comments, some useful info in there!
