Ouch! Think that was more the roll cage than anything else.
A few years back we were at Hockenheim with Paul and an old Corvette C3 race car had a massive off. It was brought back to the pits on the forks of a fork lift. All that was left was the bit of the the car where the roll cage was. Front and rear was all but gone. Amazingly he was just a bit battered.
It's a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong.

The cages are strong, and the Racetech seats in the ACR-X and VCC one of the safest out there. I crashed a Comp Coupe straight into armco with enough force to rupture 2 discs in my spine, but the cage stayed fully intact, which was useful for slinging a rope around to hoist and lift what was left of the car. Same with the GTS-R, when that was crashed the driver was knocked unconscious, but the chassis stayed intact enough to live on! I forget the FIA numbers now, its something like 4 ton of pressure the cages need to survive, but most are engineered to twice that.
